We shared this story recently on our Facebook page, but here it is again complete with a series of images that depict this astonishing encounter. Our full story on the website can be found here: http://wildlifecollege.org.za/news-media/articles/extraordinary-hyena-attack/
The Savannah Africa Aircraft, a pioneering tool in the field of counter-poaching. Working in collaboration with the free-running pack dogs and field rangers to bring a new dimension to mitigating wildlife crime. Here she is parked in her hangar on campus, her donors embossed on her flanks: @firstname.lastname@example.org@ourhornisnotmedicine Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Foundation.
I can’t stop watching this! ❤️🐘 A preview of a very special video, created by the talented @naiya.raja, telling our story of the Tsavo Elephant Collaring Operation! #savetheelephants
Aerial patrols are on the increase in the Serengeti National Park in Northern Tanzania thanks to funding from the ECF. A senior warden in the Serengeti Management, supported by @frankfurt.zoological.society (FZS) has received training as a private pilot and is now joining all patrol flights. The park, which is home to a significant number of elephants, is coming under increasing threat as elephant populations decline elsewhere in Tanzania. #elephants#antipoaching#aerialsupport#FrankfurtZoologicalSociety#Tanzania Photo: SENAPA/FZS
Day two of our media makeover began at the hangar on campus where pilot Bruce Mc Donald arrived to take @villierssteyn and @kevinmaclaughlin from @afribird up into the morning skies to capture aerial imagery of our new ranger camp and dog unit. The Savannah also flew to a neighbouring reserve to meet some donors out on safari! All in a morning's work while while our Higher and Advanced certificate students were sitting their exams.
2017 Proved to be a very busy year for the SAWC's air-wing with 863 hours being flown over this period. 2018 will no doubt require much the same input. Our aircraft continue to play a vital role in aerial support for anti-poaching and conservation. We would like to thank all of our donors who continue believing in us and for for keeping us in the sky.
Observing the team in action from the sky was incredible and I felt SO proud of everyone in that moment. The dedication, teamwork and efficiency were clear to see, even from the clouds. ✈️🐘🚁 #savetheelephants
