Keanu Reeves (Actor)
Some of the times Keanu has given away his fortune
According to @wsj, Keanu gave up part of his share of the profits of the The Matrix’s two sequels so that money could allocated towards special effects and costume departments. This move made a huge amount of money available to the ensuing productions in the popular franchise. The amount is said to be north of $75 million of his $114 million earnings to the people he worked with in The Matrix movies and thought they deserved it. Each member received an estimated $1 million per person, instantly making them all millionaires. On top of that, he gave each member of The Matrix’s 12-strong stuntman team a Harley Davidson motorbike as a gift.
In 1997, Keanu Reeves, who has millions, decided to spend his morning with a homeless man, talking, sharing and treating him as an equal.
In The Devil’s Advocate, he took a pay cut of a few million dollars (a few million dollars) so the producers could also afford to bring on Al Pacino.
In The Replacements, he did the same thing to allow the producers to bring Gene Hackman on board by taking a 90% pay cut. Ninety percent.
Keanu supports several charities and is up for anything related to cancer research. He has supported cancer research ever since his sister was diagnosed with leukemia as he spent more than $5 million in helper fight the disease. He has a private cancer foundation but prefers not to attach his name to it.
According to a personal account on Reddit, he helped a Matrix crew member’s family in need: "A family friend builds movie sets, doesn't design, is one of the poor dudes that just builds. Anyways he worked on the set for the Matrix and Keanu heard about a family trouble he was having and gave him a $20,000 Christmas bonus to help him out. He also was one of the only people on the set that genuinely wanted to know people's names, would say hello and mean it, and would talk to people as they were his peers and not below him just because they were practically making nothing to build a set. I've never heard anyone say Keanu is douche, seems like the nicest person in Hollywood from a second-hand experience."
