In the 1960’s, all the experts thought that the VW would be a bust in the US market.
They had ties to the Nazi’s, were an odd, compact shape, and had limited features when fully loaded vehicles were ALL the rage.
BUT, this was just the beginning for this iconic brand.
The DDB Ad Agency designed a campaign that was as simple as the car itself, using short, silly, self deprecating headlines like “think small.” And guess what?
They got EVERYONE talking. What people thought would NEVER sell in the US became a major hit. (I mean, I think we can all spot a VW Bug from miles away!!) The moral of the story: the right advertising can sell anything if you can get people laughing and talking. How can you inspire your community more? 📷: @Petals_and_ash
