T.G.I.F. That is it. That is all.

Bye bye #Endometriosis. Bye bye #adenomyosis. Ever since Janae @lacedwithoils had her first period she had abnormally bad cramps & pain. Up until her last surgery Janae said: “all of the doctors I saw told me it was part of being a woman & to take pain meds, have a baby, go on #hormone suppressing medications & get on with my life. But that's just it, I couldn't just get on with it even if I so desperately wanted to do. I tried. It didn't work for me or my husband who saw me suffer regularly every month.” Janae’s #pain eventually spread from her pelvis to belly button, intestines, & diaphragm. She could no longer do normal things like workout without pain & shortness of breath. But when she explained these symptoms to her doctor, they insisted it couldn’t be endometriosis or related to her periods at all. Janae knew better, she knew her own body. She says as a result of chronic pain, “you become hyper aware of any old & especially new symptoms”
Fast forward to 2014 when Janae underwent her first emergency surgery due to a bleeding belly button. Her CT showed appendicitis & when her appendix was removed they found endo wrapped around it & infiltrating her intestines. A biopsy confirmed the endo in her belly button & photos confirmed tissue that resembled endo on her diaphragm. Following this Janae underwent 4 more surgeries; 1 umbilitical reconstruction, 3 tubes inserted & surgery for lung collapse until finally her 6th & final surgery in March of 2016 when she traveled to the @centerforendocare
She describes it as the best care possible, my endo was excised EVERYWHERE, including my diaphragm & I opted for a #hysterectomy due to my adenomyosis” Since that day Janae has begun the best days of her life, she has no pain at all, her energy is through the roof & she’s a licensed Zumba fitness instructor! Janae sends her thanks to the @centerforendocare staff, Dr. Sivervo, Dr. Moore, & Dr. Kongaosa & to Nancy’s nook & admins of facebook & to all the supportive ones in her life, “My life has done a complete 180 & I count my blessings everyday”

What you see in this #hysterectomy specimen is a #uterine niche also known as an #isthmocele .The second photo is the same uterus under ultrasound view. Most doctors are not even aware of what a uterine niche is. It is caused by a #cesarean section (#csection ). A deep scar is left in the uterus and it creates a number of problems. It becomes a reservoir for menstrual blood and causes prolonged #menstruation . This is particularly bad for patients with #endometriosis or #adenomyosis because prolonged bleeding causes more irritation and #pelvicpain . For women who are trying to conceive it can cause 2 problems. The most common is accumulation of fluid in the cavity as the cervical mucus gets trapped. Most #ivf doctors are clueless to this problem. The second risk is that a pregnancy may implant in the niche. For women who desire future fertility I perform a robotic repair instead of a #hysterectomy. But it is not an easy operation. Reach out to me if you want to know more.

Minutes after being wheeled into recovery , Completely out of it because pain meds weren’t relieving anything . @mzlullaby_7 took this picture ! I am grateful . Because I didn’t think I was going to make it out. I had a bad feeling in the back of my mind the entire week leading up to my surgery . I had things in place for if I didn’t make it . At this point , all the failures that endometriosis caused didn’t matter . Nothing mattered . I came out on the other side ! The hysterectomy was not to cure me . AGAIN it was not a cure . I still have pains . My breathing is not the best . But I made it out and as ugly as this picture is , I’m grateful . #endosucks #endosisters #endometriosis #hysterectomy #adenomyosis

★ME verses ME★ Healthy and fit in both but stronger and more confident on the left. ♡ So some slightly personal sharing, eeek. I figure talking about it and sharing the not so good real side of me may help even just one other. This week for me regarding training has been frustratingly a big fat "zero" and i find it super hard not to get utterly depressed with it. Like many girls/women i suffer every month but unfortunately mine are the most part Debilitating due to Endo and Adenomyosis. It floors me mentally and physically on many levels and when its bad, its bad. Just functioning let alone training is a challenge. Pretending is something i have gotten good at also. As i get older it seems to get worse and harder to push through even though my lifestyle and nutrition is dialled right in and on point, sometimes these things are just what we have been given to learn and grow from. Even though they SUCK! So during this time i just keep telling myself don't give up and never stop, and that i can get there. Be proud wherever you are in your life and with and keep going! ❤️💪🙌 #vegan #plantbased #fitnessmotivation #hardcorevegans

Déjà vu ✌🏽Endo round 2 💛

Today I had my second surgery within two years to further manage my stage 5 Endometriosis. This debilitating auto immune disease has me stumped, with so much still unknown. The most devastating thing for me was being told 2 years ago that at age 21 - fertility wise you are already 35. But today I feel totally blessed with the best surgeon in the Southern Hemisphere Dr. Micheal Cooper aka. Bradley Cooper 😍 finding that the 6cm cyst that grew back in under 18mnths is actually not endo - but just an ovarian cyst, still uncomfortable but not like the two nasty Endo ones I had removed previously! WOOO 👏🏽🥂 A little bit of light at the end of a tunnel with a disease that I will have forever - but can be well managed and I guess that's exactly what we've been doing, amazingly slowing down this aggressive and painful disease 🙌🏽 For every woman out there, your body is sooo precious, and you know it best, if you are in pain, you don't need that 👊🏼 so be brave and talk about it 💪🏽 4 years ago I thought I just had hip pain little did I know... I also can't ride for two weeks which is the worst above all of course 💁😤🐴 #endometriosis #adenomyosis #endomakeyourselfaware #endostrong

Happy first day of fall y'all!
🍁👻🎃💀🍂

Don't compare your bad days to someone else's highlight reel 💎✨
If you're having a shitty day & you're scrolling through your feed, looking at beautiful pictures & comparing yourself to others - stop! Remember that social media is generally a highlight reel. Not many people share their struggles. No one is going to post a photo of them crying & tell the world how crap they feel.
.
Even the prettiest, most popular people you follow doubt themselves sometimes. My whole Instagram is perfectly posed & perfectly planned. This is just another pretty picture - most of the time when I post photos I'm actually in a lot of pain & feeling really shitty.
.
I love taking nice photos, I love posting them on Instagram just the same as everyone else & there's nothing wrong with that. But just make sure as you scroll that you remember - it's just a highlight reel. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, because their life probably isn't as perfect as it seems either. ✨

Recovering from a #hysterectomy is no joke, physically and emotionally. But I should get to go home to Weetzie and all my plants tomorrow! I'm so ready for #adenomyosis to be part of my past. Thanks for all the well wishes and kind messages! I've been too tired to reply to everything, but I've read every single one. 💛

Bad day, waiting for morphine to kick in.

However....I didn't think it would be possible today but a smile has been put on my face from the lovely @chronic_khaleesi . She send me the loveliest card and I may have cried for 5 minutes after reading it as it was so so nice but has now left me feeling so lucky to have people that care about me.
Love you Annie. Couldn't have arrived on a day where I needed it more. Xx

Been sent back to bed by my wonderful man and so that is where I shall stay. 😊

#endometriosis Twin study. 20% concordance in identical. 10% in fraternal. This suggests both genetic and unique (nonshared) environmental influences on the complex etiology of endometriosis and support the hypothesis that genes have a strong influence on phenotypic manifestations of endometriosis. #endometriosis #endometriosisisreal #adenomyosis

When mindful moments happen to you without even trying. I took this photo to meditate on when I get home. I'm going to print out all of them and make a collage of the moments that have been given to me without me even looking!

Yesterday we walked down to thks lake near where we are staying in France. It's so so peaceful. I was laying on the bench listening to bees, listening to the fisherman make a splash periodically with his line. Feeling the warm sun on my body and the sky look at the sky!

My thoughts drifted to my family and friends in Dominica and I sent them all the good vibes. Praying they are safe and well and that we will hear from them soon.
But in the worry of the last week following hurricaine maria I was very pleased to have this slice of tranquillity bestowed upon me. The breathing space was very much needed. It was just what I needed.
Thank you universe for giving me that day and that very special half hour 💜💖 #thewellwomanproject #endorebel #endometriosis #adenomyosis #hormones #fibroids #business #universe #mindfullmoment #mindfullness

Spending my weekend waiting for transfer with 2 of 3 nieces. We are having some down time with tv while we wait for the groceries to come. Then we plan to do some baking and have a picnic lunch at the park!
My heart melts,
My husband and I fell asleep with one each last night 😂 the younger one didn't want to sleep either so my husband read her stories in their bedroom (our spare room currently) and she didn't want him to leave so he got his books and laid with her reading his own books while she fell asleep. Me and the older one (from last nights pic) watched an episode of Dora the explorer and fell asleep together. Hubby moved her to the room with her sister once he was done reading and ready for bed. Then as he was leaving for work the girls ran up to him excited for their day telling him what they were doing.
This will be my life every day soon. He is going to make the best dad. Keep growing embabies! Your dad is going to spoil you with love as will mumma!! I'll see you Monday for transfer!

It's really been a non-stop week, but today I'm feeling alive, strong and happy! ✨ The past few days anxiety has crept in, but I've spent a long time developing the tools to deal with it and changing my life in ways to make me feel calmer and happier - and it's working! ✌️ I no longer give those thoughts the space and time I did before, and even though the feeling still gets me, it's passing quicker and has less of an impact.
Anyway, it's been a good Friday and I wanted to share that with you! I also wanted to share this quick miso soup I made the other day, using a @minimalistbaker recipe (just Google and it'll come up)! I used a miso paste made with rice instead of soy, which I bought when we were in Bristol. I haven't found it in London yet, but if anyone knows of some soy-free miso pastes, please let me know! 🙏
Happy Friday!

Defence mechanism #34: Putting in effort before seeing doctors or undergoing medical procedures.
Also had the chance to participate in an #endometriosis study this morning. So grateful for the dedicated people researching this nutty condition in an effort to understand it and improve our quality of life!
