#turningveggie update: being completely honest here, I’ve already hit a couple of bumps staying veggie in the festive season 🙈 I haven’t been prepared and I didn’t want to cause a fuss so I just went with it. At first I felt so guilty but then took a step back and approached it like I was learning a sporting skill, or learning something new at work - you rarely do these things perfectly the first time, it takes practice so just chill and learn from these situations! Maintaining those positive vibes (and using up all my food before I leave for Aus) with this beaut veg bowl 👌 this one had black beans, corn, broccoli, sweet potato cooked in turmeric with black pepper to aid its absorption, hummus annnnd tahini! 🥗

In the depths of winter things are still active if you look closely enough you will find the tress are in bud.

Nature slows down in the winter all its energy is sent to the roots. To help it to rise stronger and grow into the spring and summer months.

No rushing, not getting anything else done just being.

Our winter time is the same. 80% of you body is taken up with having your period which leave the other 20% managing on its own..

By tuning in and listening to you needs. Becoming quiet, finding your space however that looks for you is giving you body the break it needs to do the big job it has in hand.

By doing that you will come back stronger in your spring and summer and may well find things start to feel a little easier.

All the love

I must admit that I truly enjoy being a hermit and sharing my life little bits and pieces at a time, so #TheCourtneyChronicles forces me to share more and be more transparent. I’m warning that there is neva a dull moment in my life. I hope you enjoy!! You can see the entire video on my Courtney G. REAL STORY SERIES 📝🎗💛
Carlee | 25 | Florida, USA 🇺🇸
@fightwithendo

So my endometriosis pain started when I was in my senior year of college. Throughout high school and my first three years of college I was incredibly active. I played outside for hours (tennis, street basketball, lacrosse, rowing, cardio intensive workouts, running long distance and weight lifting) My level of activity decreased dramatically in my third year of college my level of activity went from 110% to about 50%. I started noticing my period getting more painful every month. To the point where I was upping the dosage of over the counter pain meds and drinking entire bottles of nyquil to fall asleep. My abdomen would be on fire and I would sleep on the bathroom tiles to keep myself cool. Yet I would always wake up in puddles of my own sweat. The bleeding from my period was extremely heavy, thick and clotted. I put up with it because I just thought it was a ‘bad period’. I had never heard of endometriosis. In Jan 15 I was in Florida for a wedding and my period hit me really hard. I was crying on my aunt's tile floors. I had cold towels covering me. I couldn't speak because the pain was so strong and it would take my breath away. My mom and aunt were concerned, saying...this is not normal. So they took me to the ER. The doctors said it was a classic case of Endo. Ever since that day I've been trying to become more educated in managing the pain, what foods to eat and not eat, and trying to stay active in order to bring down the pain a bit. My lifestyle change has brought my pain down dramatically. I don't drink alcohol much anymore. I stay away from foods that can cause inflammation. And most importantly, I make sure to keep my mind healthy and optimistic. It's almost four years and it's a constant struggle. I can’t do birth control, each brand I've tried hasn't really helped. If I take the pill even one minute late I start to bleed rivers and the pain is unbearable, more so than my regularly scheduled periods. I'm on my period now. My tummy is on fire and it looks like I'm pregnant.

Günaydın. Ekibi topladık ve zor bir operasyonun daha üstesinden geldik. It's the End-o the Line.... I will be going to Atlanta to have my third and largest surgery in my battle with endo. Please see the link in my bio if you would like to know more or even help out. Here for my post op! Interested to hear more details about my surgery because I was pretty woozy from anesthesia when he initially was telling me. So let’s see what my next journey will be! 🤗 Anyone wanna take bets? 🤣 #postop #recovery #laparoscopy #endometriosis #adenomyosis #endosisters 💛

I have always believed that laughter is the best medicine. Despite all the lows I’ve had with my health, I always make sure to have a good laugh and truly enjoy whatever it is I’m doing. 🤓 ... this year has been a bit crazy, it's not been easy. A week ago I told myself I can't carry on being so negative all the time. I'm doing what makes me happy ... I've always wanted to chop my hair like @francescabridge and @emmawillisofficial so I did it! A phone call today offering more surgery will make 2018 still has hard and crazy but hopefully after this there is light at the end of the tunnel!! No more treatments and crazy side effects. 🙌🏻 #zoladex #hysterectomy #endometriosis #adenomyosis

Guys! Excuse the toilet in the background but I have something to admit... I always thought only idiots got burns from their heating pads/hot water bottles. Working as a nurse I always rolled my eyes at hospitals banning them! So I've just been very humbled by what I discovered after snuggling my hot water bottle a little too closely. I thought my skin would give me some sort of signal that it wasn't happy? Or does living with #Adeno or #Endo just feel the same as whatever I just did to my tummy? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Either way, Mum says it'll be gone by the morning and I'm hoping she's right 😂 Has this happened to you too?! Like what even?! It's so strange 😂 Be #heat safe ladies!!!!

Ich könnte kotzen!!! Ok. Nein.
When a friend and colleague comes squats down next to me and says, "Having a rough one this morning Tam huh?" And makes me smile cos he knows I need it. When another colleague can see I'm having a rough one and he tells me that he did a little research on endometriosis and talked to me about the different pain sensations endo brings and asks me what I experience and feel.

I'm blessed to have beautiful people in my life that 'get' there's not much they can do to help my pain, but make an effort to understand so they can better support and care for me. I'm so lucky.

Hello to all! I have had quite a few DM’s asking about my story, and I decided I would just make a post! Keep in mind, I am an optimist, as well as someone who thinks positively, so although my story may seem dim, my life is so bright! Read below for my story:
My periods have always sucked. From horrible cramps, nausea and vomiting, irregular cycling, and extremely heavy bleeding. But I never thought any of that was abnormal. I’m a tough gal with what doctors constantly tell me, a high pain tolerance, so when I am hurting, I typically ignore it. By the time college came around, I started on birth control and realized something wasn’t right. I would still have all the symptoms and bleed throughout the month. Then things started getting worse and I eventually went to the ER believing something was wrong with my stomach bc I was so nauseous all the time. That’s when we found out my right ovary had chats and one had burst. After working with a gynecologist, we thought I had PCOS. But there was more to it. I had symptoms that didn’t match that criteria. So the search for a gyno to take my case began. I was told countless times I was experiencing all of this bc of my my age my period was supposed to be like this. Finally I met a doctor who mentioned endo and adeno. After getting tested for endo, the more likely for my life, we discovered that wasn’t the case. They wanted to cut me open but I lived on my own and couldn’t get the support I needed for surgery. So they decided to do more screenings and check some possible signs for adeno. The average thickness of a uterine lining is 8-13mm..mine was 16mm. Extremely abnormal for a 22 year old who has never been pregnant. This is one of the major signs of adeno. And with results of other tests, my doctors came to the conclusion if all signs point to adeno, that’s most likely what it is. Mind you getting a diagnosis took over 2 years AND I saw around 18 different doctors. My parents even switched our insurance to try to get a doctor to hear my voice. So here I am now, without any form of pain relief and desperately trying anything I can to help myself! #adenomyosis #adenomyosisawareness #adeno #adenoeats #chronicpain #uterus

Accurate representation of how my life is going atm 😅⠀

Still in hospital & let’s be real; it’s not a good time. Honestly, I’ve found it really hard to be open & raw about my health situation lately as it’s the worst it’s ever been & really taking a toll. As much as I try to be positive, sometimes life can be unfair & you just have to go through a grieving process.
Blog coming soon about the details (when I feel ready to share). Thank you to those of you who have been there for me though this tough time - it means the world 💖

In every picture I'd battled health issues that prep, last pic on bottom R is current (offseason) after 3 months on a mostly liquid diet. I always struggle to "get in shape" (contest shape) no matter what I do. Sometimes when I'm not trying I loose weight, then it doesn't go to plan when I try to get leaner. However; with things being far worse than in the past my challenge now is going to be working out how to get required prep nutrition in, in liquid/ puréed/ blended form. The worse things are getting physically, the easier I'm finding it mentally. Being in limbo sucks, I'd rather have a plan & some control & if I have to drink fish & spinach through a straw so be it, I will find a way. Thanks to @sir_hinge for chats often about mental strength, all the way in #california but one of the best friendships I have & so grateful for it, that bus trip was meant to be! 🙏🏽 #chronicillness #chronicpain #tummyproblems #digestivehealth #guthealth #liquiddiet #fortisip #drinkingcalories #celiacdisease #ibs #endometriosis #adenomyosis #bodybuilding #figure #ifbbpro #ifbbfigure #mindset #mentalstrength #overcomingchallenges #adversity

Dear #Uterus, I love you because you are a part of what makes me woman. I love the hope that I will be able to grow and sustain a life within you one day. You are a part of who I am... but I also hate you. Like, a lot. All the time. You're annoying, time consuming, painful and costly. You give me stacks of grief. Why can't you be a normal organ? Love me, the rest of my body, my pain receptors and my mental health.
Anyone #relate? 😂😂😂 Also love this geometric illustration, but have no idea who did it!

Okay, so I know a lot of us have seen this big, scary study in the past week or so. The results of this study tell me I already (at 23 years old) have a 38% higher chance at having #breastcancer than someone who hasn't been on the OCP for the last 10 years. For a lot of us #endosisters we just have no other choice. So, while it is helpful to own available information and use it to make informed decisions about our care, a life without being on the pill for me is a life with very low quality. What can we do with this info right now? Having a family history of Breast Cancer, I'm going to be proactive in checking my ( . Y . ) at least once a month, and am planning to start regular mammograms earlier than recommended. I've been having intermittent pain in one of my #boobs for a little while and even though my GP handed me a referral for an ultrasound, I've been avoiding it because frankly, I'm OVER going to the doctors. The results of this study have encouraged me to get off my butt and do that just to be safe, but I refuse to be scared of this statistic to the point that I stop taking the OCP. It has given me a far better run in terms of my #endometriosis and #adenomyosis and it has given me control in deciding when I have to suffer through a period. So let's all take this information into account wisely, but let's not be scared away from utilising a pill that can greatly benefit our disease experience.

Chronic Illness's twisted sisters: anxiety and depression. Life in good health has enough hassles, but when you add going in to battle against your own body into the mix it can cause your mental state a whole lot of grief! I've been working with a psychologist lately to address some mental health issues and a huge thing I've been unpacking is my tendency to try and over-control circumstances (and I know I'm not alone here). It's a natural response for somebody who is going through some form of trauma that is outside of their control to try and compensate by gaining control over something else. For me, I grab on with both hands and cling to comfort: by controlling my environment, who I spend time with, how my schedule runs, etc. Sometimes when you have an illness it's necessary and even healthy to plan well to get through the day and stay standing, but it's hard not to go too far and send yourself into a spiral of stress at the slightest hiccup. Another aspect of #anxiety I've been unpacking recently are my #thoughts. Through recording my thoughts I've discovered that almost every single anxious thought is me making a #prediction about the future: "I'm always going to be sick" or "I'm going to end up all alone because so and so won't want to always be looking after me." It has been really hard to break free of this, particularly as I have been hurt by my body, life and people in the past, but identifying these patterns also empowers me to take my thoughts captive and change them into more realistic or helpful ones... ie "I might have ups and downs, but look at what I've come through just fine" or "look at the great doctors I have on my side now" or "look at the awesome people who have stuck by me through this and love me so well." Medications can definitely do their part in disrupting cycles of anxiety, calming the nervous system and giving you a rest when you need it (my anxiety tends to manifest in a very physical way which can put more strain on the old wonky body) but talk therapy has been the most helpful thing overall in beginning to resolve these things for the long term. How do you deal with #anxiety? What has helped the most?

I decided to try out 2 seperate teas over the span of a couple of weeks to compare results and how they overall made me feel ☺️ My result? Don’t waste your money on Slim Tea! Does it work?? Yeah! But It had left me with incredibly bad stomach pains, dehydration and the feeling of not wanting to eat because I felt like I was in so much pain- if something causes your body pain don’t use it! 😩 so it’s definitely a no from me!
I’ve been using Your Tea for a couple of weeks before bed time and sometimes during the day for extra energy, I don’t recommend it as a way to lose weight but if your finding yourself wanting to feel de bloated before a special event, use this tea! It has great health benefits and doesn’t leave you feeling sick like slim tea made me feel. I seen a lot of reviews online with people feeling the same about slim tea. I don’t advise people to use tea diets as your only means for weight loss, anything that advises you to stop using after a certain amount of weeks (like slim tea) is not good for your body! Your Tea can be beneficial for an energy boost/health tea when your trying to cut back on caffeine, it has really helped me with this process 🤗 ☕️

POST FLARE UP
.
.
People often think that because I have a flare up that I am suddenly back to normal the next day. My answer to you is no, it can take me days to get over it.
.
.
I got a full 8 hours sleep last night but I can barely keep my eyes open I feel beyond exhausted. My body is sore all over and aching. My emotions are through the roof and I’m trying to keep myself together.
.
.
Living with an invisible illness is hard, no one knows the full extent that you and your body go through unless you have it as well.
.
.
Last night I was meant to have a friend over but once again I had to cancel because of a flare up. We value our friendships but sometimes we have to cancel, we don’t like doing it but we don’t have a choice

Remember, be kind to those you know living with an invisible illness. You may no understand but know that we are trying our best.

E N D O (big post)

a.k.a Adenomyosis or endometriosis. This dis-ease affects 1 in 10 women and the stats are climbing *face palm*. I have friends, family, patients and colleagues suffering with it. Everyone's journey with it is different but these women deserve support, recognition, better diagnostics, better treatments and increased awareness around the condition to the public and medical professionals.
.
.
💗RECENTLY- Parliament announced that they "will create the first National Action Plan for Endometriosis, providing much needed support for women who face this often misunderstood medical condition" 😍😍
💗HOW- "The Plan will seek to improve the treatment, understanding and awareness of endometriosis." This is through increased funding for genomics medical research AND a key feature in 2018's women's health week 🎉👐
.
.
💗Now...about these gorgeous earrings are all part of Endometriosis Queenslands lovely rebrand and they were made by a beautiful local Brisbane jeweller and #endosister with ALL profits going towards QENDO so they can continue their support and advocation for these women and the condition in their 30th year and beyond. My heart bursts for this stuff, they are amazing and this organisation is amazing. Check out @qendo for more lovely pieces!

What QENDO represents:
💗Women- our femininity but also our strength
💗Connectivity- we are all connected to one another by a shared experience
💗Community- we are here to support one another
💗Empowerment- the power to contol our health rests with each and every one of us
💗Hope- that we can continue to make a difference.

It's NOT just period pain.....
.
.
B x

Don't forget awful nausea, fatigue and headaches... Ugh. I feel that PMS is worse than having my period. During my period there is pain but most of those few days I sleep. The fatigue is super debilitating. During my period I drink tea made with cramp bark, vitex berry and raspberry leaf. It really stops the cramps and some of the pain for me. During the few days before my period I feel super nauseous and the best thing I find to help is taking B complex vitamins. Eating light and gentle foods is important also. This helps me to get through. Lack of vitamins can cause many bad symptoms so its vital , if you want to heal, to find out what your body needs. ❀ #pms #endometriosis #adenomyosis #periodproblems #health #wellness #holistichealth

I've been gradually losing my mobility and autonomy. My partner is being my caretaker, but at 19 years old I sincerely wish I could move and generally do things on my own. Due to the pain that has worsened through the years, I have a lost my freedom and had to give up my dreams. °
°
I am afflicted with adenomyosis and endometriosis, which can only be helped through hysterectomy and excision of endometrial adhesions. They are all over my belly and possibly on my lungs too. There is a longer, more detailed list of symptoms on the GoFundMe link, but here is a brief list:
-very long periods (average of two weeks)
-irregular periods (can have them every three months or every three week, body doesn't care)
-crippling cramps
-chronic pain and fatigue
-massive bleeding and clotting
-very restrictive diet (only fruits & veggies can be properly digested due to adhesions on intestines)
-hormonal imbalance causing mood swings like pregnancy

I’ve been a bit MIA on this instagram this week. I’ve mainly just been preparing for my OP that I had yesterday.
I’ve found out that not only did they cut out endometriosis, but I now also have adenomyosis, which means that the endometriosis grows inside the muscle too.
This was a bit of a blow to me as this should’ve been discovered years ago by my old doctor but it wasn’t, it’s also harder to treat. Im now on 2 contraceptives and im worried about how that’ll affect my weightloss and life in general.
I’m feeling sore this morning as excited expected but I’m going to get up and moving as soon as I can, cause I’ve got some goals to smash 💪🏻 but for now I know I need to rest 😴 so that when I am ready, I’m bigger and better. Sometimes weightloss has to take a back seat on your healthy journey 💪🏻💪🏻

WARNING - LONG POST.. .

OK, so I went to my new gynaecology consultant about the "endo pain" and came away confused and pissed off. He told me that to him my last two laproscpies don't show any endo and that I can't have been diagnosed with adenomyosis in 2006 as a laproscpy doesn't diagnose it. Yet I remember them saying they'd taken away endo, dealt with adhesions and found adenomyosis. I'd never heard of the latter so know that happened lol 🤔 He also said the drug trial I was on in 2010 wasn't for people with endo but people with chronic pelvic pain but no endo!
He says my pain is in my colon and wants me to do an elimination diet and go back in two months. He took bloods for IBD, celiac and another that can show endo and said my ultrasound last week shows signs of possible adeno. I was thankful of him saying he didn't want to do a laproscopy for the sake of it as he is aware it exacerbates Fibro and M.E (someone who gets that! Yay).
I do find it crazy how everything he's saying is so different to what I've been told by others for over a decade. I've been told countless times that I need a hysterectomy and in 2014 I was told things were so bad that I'd got a year to conceive if I wanted another child. I was also led to believe that the Lupron injection was my only viable treatment option. No mention of the pain being elsewhere or that my laproscopies were normal (although I don't remember what was said in 2012). Part of me is relieved I might finally have answers but I'm also so annoyed that I've possibly spent years having pain and the wrong treatments and been given false information. I've been close to having the hysterectomy so many times! So, now it's a waiting game. I'm going to wait until after Christmas to change my diet as doing it now would drive me insane lol.

17 weeks post total hysterectomy, the day I decide and start hormone treatment for my estrogen dominace.
I hope this will help balance my hormone levels and bring me some peace in body and mind.

Not having the best day today. I spent Monday in bed as I was so exhausted from Sunday that I just couldn't get out of it. Yesterday I still felt knackered but had a hospital and Doctors appointment to go to. Today all those things and the damp weather have predictably left me in a flare. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be doing better as Chris is off and there's errands to run for Christmas.

3/3 🌻 Endometriosis isn’t “life threatening” but how many more surgeries can my body take?
Would it have got this far if I was listened to in the first place? Apparently not.
This is why it’s important to raise awareness, approximately 176 million women worldwide suffer from Endometriosis and my charity is dedicated and focused on making a difference. If only I knew about this life ruining disease sooner I would have done this a long time ago.
Please support @womenwithendometriosis and help me bring my campaign into education 🌻 Whilst I’m suffering one of the most severe cases of Endometriosis no longer even being a “stage” I’m way passed that , I’m doing all I can in aid to help other women with your help and support I can do this 🙏🏽 #womenwithendometriosis #endometriosisawareness #endometriosiseducation #womenshealth #adenomyosis #ibs #frozenpelvis #womenempowerment #speakout #supportingwomenwithendometriosis #infertility #lifestyle #exercise #healthylifestyle #womenwithendometriosiscampaign #womenwithendometriosischarity

New data has revealed 14 urgent operations were axed at James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) in Gorleston in October alone - making it one of the worst performing health trusts in England for the measure.
In the last 12 months JPUH has cancelled 104 key surgeries, which could include swift action needed to save patients’ lives, limbs and organs.
More than two thirds of the country’s trusts did not rearrange a single urgent procedure over the same time period - including the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King’s Lynn, both of which have not cancelled any urgent operations in the last year.
Cancellations can be due to shortages of beds or staff as well as operations running over time and administrative errors.
The figures, from NHS Digital, also showed two patients at JPUH have had an operation cancelled twice in the space of just four weeks, over the past year.
And the trust cancelled more surgeries this year than in the same month in 2016, when 9 were stopped. #norfolk #jamespagethospital #dr #doctor #medschool #medstudent #spoonie #disability #invisibleillness #chronicpain #chronicillness #adenomyosis #bronchiectasis #crohns #copd #degenerativediscdisease #glaucoma #iih #chronickidneydisease #myastheniagravis #arthritis #parkinsons #ulcerativecolitis #nhs
