Only 10% of our genes have adapted and changed since the invention of agriculture. That means that 90% of our genes remain unchanged from the time we lived as hunter/gatherers.
I often get asked why I think people are getting chronically sick at such an exponential rate as we do today.
The incidences of cancer, heart disease, gut issues, autism, and even mental disease continue to rise each year.
Children today are the first generation who are expected to live shorter lives than their parents in the US.
What is the reason for all of this?
No single factor accounts for all of it, but my answer to the question is always that the way we live our lives today is in misalignment with our genes.
That is what is making us sick!
What happens when you put a species in an environment that is different from where it evolved?
It either adapts or dies.
It takes many generations for a species to adapt to its new environment fully. Even when it does, it does not thrive as well as it did in the original environment.
The solution to our current health epidemic will not be yet another new drug that suppresses and manages symptoms.
The solution will be the realization that we have to start living our lives in alignment with our genes.
A lifestyle that takes into account our evolutionary needs in a modern society is far from impossible.
Let's get back to our roots, back to nature!
