“Happiness can exist only in acceptance.”
One of the things I struggle most with in life is acceptance of this particular step in the journey. The mind creates an illusion of promise, hope, fulfillment, and completion that exists only in the future. A false prophecy that “salvation exists in the treasures of tomorrow.”
Unfortunately, anything future-based is all an illusion. The only truth we currently have, ever have had, or ever will have exists entirely in the moment. In the now.
As an actor, I have learned first and foremost how achievement does not come overnight. It is a long, arduous process. One filled with plenty of perceived discomfort, rejection, and pain. But really, what is at the essence of those negative feelings? An inability to accept the present moment, a.k.a, this step in the journey.
So I make it a daily challenge to accept my current step in the process wholly and completely. Fitness has served as a tangible example of such a practice for me. Yes, I am currently pretty happy with where I am in my fitness journey. But it has taken seven years. And in that time, there were plenty of those aforementioned feelings of discontent that I learned to keep powering through. I never gave up.
So that is today’s lesson I share with you. No matter where you are in your journey, with enough dedication, you CAN and WILL achieve what you want. But are you going to make the process a painful and difficult one? Or are you going to approach it with lightness and ease as you navigate your way through it? The choice is yours. And I encourage you to choose the latter by accepting the now. It will be worth it.
