Surviving 7: ACL/MCL reconstruction day 253➡️ Back on the bike today with no resistance. Feels good to get some good movement in! Still working basics - patella mobilization’s for 30 seconds, hamstring co contractions 2 sets of 20, and standing cable hip extension and hip abduction 3 sets of 20. Right now quad work is still painful so focus is recovery for quads and inflammation/scarring. Using my @cbdfitrecovery CBD balm (discount code JENNACTIVE) and my #iastm tool in addition to the vibrations from my percussor! Feels so good!! 2 weeks until beginning my first round of PRP injections. 💉💉👊🏼💪🏼

Miss @ariamc killing her rehab post ACL reconstruction with Dr. G. We’ve got her focusing on trusting her left glute and getting back into that hip, keeping lumbar stability locked in and awareness placed on the hamstring, adductor group, quad, and tension with lateral stabilization/glute med. Feet locked into the ground with arch activated and tension created so force transmission is smooth and she can utilize the entire chain. Everything bilateral—we can’t have a lagging right leg when it’s all said and done. Next week we will be implementing a cardio BFR program once per week on alternating days. Week 22. Another hotel, another gym! In the gym at 6.30 before the conference started...it was unbearably hot, which is impressive for a country that has air-con everywhere! Knee got stiff yesterday sat in the meeting but feels much better for the exercise. There is a hint of quad muscle coming back, but my god it's slow! Would have expected more at 5 months, but whilst I still can't do a full single leg dip I'm still limited on the explosive work I can do. Life has been serving some major lemons lately & I have no interest in making lemonade 😑 GIVE ME WINE🍷🍷🍷

My potential alcoholism aside, I've been dealing with new stressors & family illness so I've been in the gym trying to ditch the negative vibes & keep my mind and body busy!
.
I'm a little over 3-months #postop and I've been dealing with some behind the knee pain/ stiffness when standing or sitting too long.
.
🏋🏽To combat this, I've been focused on trying to build up strength in my quad, hammy, inner thigh and calf muscles. .
The 1-leg squat has been helpful & super challenging at targeting my weaken quad and helping my balance & core strength. I always use the bench!!
.
Still more work to do on my surgery leg & working on getting back into a formal PT program here in #Boston 😯 I'm currently working out solo dolo.

一年了,好漫長的一年,沒有籃球的日子🏀,其實我也慢慢覺得還好,慢慢的不太想回到球場,好害怕就這樣忘記了對籃球的熱愛,今天從新踏上球場,雖然只是投投籃,雖然只是運運球,原來...我還是如此喜愛籃球,很高興!很開心!球在空中劃過的弧度依舊如此美麗!

It is the final night before my surgery and the nerves are starting to set in. I know what it feels like, I’ve done it before, I am just not ready to do it. The next few weeks, months and even year are a whole new challenge and I hope that it will be the last one that me and my not so trusty knee face. 📌2 reasons you are getting lower back pain!

⚠One of the most common complaints I hear from netball athletes is that they are suffering from lower back pain
-
⚠Two most common reasons I see for this are;
-
➡Tight hips - the issue I see is many of them have VERY tight hips, which has pulled the pelvis in anterior pelvic tilt (sway back). This excessive APT can cause lower back pain. The other issue this can have is excessive APT can also cause the femur to internally rotate, which in turn, causes the valgus knee motion (knocked knees) which can cause not only knee pain but also increase your risk of knee injury!
➡Weak glutes – if your glutes are not strong enough to cope with the demand of sprinting, changing direction, accelerating, decelerating, jumping and landing they will not hold your pelvis in the correct position during these movements causing the lower back to compensate for the lack of strength in the glutes!

Not much content coming from me this week unfortunately..running a half marathon whilst ill has definitely taken its toll! I’m twice as poorly, chest and throat is Uber sore, lost my voice, I have sinusitis and my left ear is blocked 🙄 not to mention the post-run pains (still can’t bend my knee), full leg DOMS and even feet DOMS 🙈😂 I am broken 🤕

So I am continuing to rest up as I have done since the race and the 2 days before the race.. this yummy breakfast was Greek yoghurt with 1 scoop protein, Rice Krispies and topped with a sliced easy peeler, almond butter and a mix of ground linseed, flaxseed and goji berries 👌🏻
