Repost from my good friend, Earl (@earlgranville): "Just found this of "that moment" crossing the finish line carrying @andimarie1 at the 2017 @bostonmarathon. I really didn't expect this moment to grab the world like it has....so I'm going to use this attention wisely.
As human beings, we tend to come across adversity in our lives. Depression, guilt, sadness, feelings of being lost, emptiness...you get the idea. If there's something I can inform planet earth is this:
You have choices when battling these emotions. I feel most of us tend to break when the weight of adversity over powers us inside...but before it gets to that point, remember, you still have choices. Make the choice to do your best (I understand it's difficult) to do what's best for you to find that happiness again and love a healthy life. Sometimes it may be a change of attitude and stepping out of your comfort zone.
I lost my twin brother, SSG Joe Granville, after I lost my leg in Afghanistan while he was still serving in the military. He took his own life...which brought me to quite a bit of bad decisions I was making for the obvious reasons hurting the ones I cared about. Not taking responsibilities for my actions. Blaming everybody else.
I made the decision to change after learning how proud Joe was of my physical accomplishes, this became my fuel to challenge myself more, a decision I still make today. Let's just I try to live a happy healthy life now hopefully helping others with their physical and mental adversities as a speaker or with being physically active, and I don't do it alone....I've got a wonderful group of friends and like minded people next to me in this fight together. And I hope it's making an impact for anybody who may be struggling.
Just remember #PlanetEarth, you never have to carry that weight alone if it gets too heavy. We must stop destroying ourselves with this current divide in our nation 🇺🇸. Let's carry that weight for all of us. #unity Photo by my good friend @josephkelleyphotography.
