Training+rest+nutrition=growth! That's it! So much overthinking so much debating, so much dwelling. Fitness is not that complicated. Balancing calories in/calories out works. Nutrient timing can be effective but if you eat when you're hungry and you eat a balanced diet of whole foods you are going to succeed 99.9%.
The secret is there is no secret. The secret is to stop paying attention to anyone who says they have a secret. Learn the journey, love the journey, embrace the process with all the hard work, sweat, dirt and pain. And there you will find your progress. If you want to get stronger > lift heavy things; rest; repeat. If you want to get faster > run; rest; repeat. If you want to get fit > go exercise; rest; repeat.
