"Conscience of Rhode Island" Elizabeth Buffum Chace, the indefatigable Quaker activist whose Valley Falls home served as an Underground Railroad station, dies on December 12, 1899. "You have reason, my dear friend, to be satisfied with your life," Elizabeth Cady Stanton had written Chace during her final years.
And Frederick Douglass to her daughter Lillie: "I had hoped once more to look into your mother's noble face and to hear her firm and tranquil voice, but I fear that this cannot be; but what matter? These will never be forgotten. I shall always see her as I saw her and heard her kind voice when I was yet new from slavery. The words of kindness
and sympathy given me then were fitted to last longer with me than I can hope to live in this world. … [T]ell her that I rejoice in the life she has been able to live and that I thank her for what she has done for temperance and freedom; for men and for women."

“Slavery is more stoppable than ever, and that’s why we’re here, rallying around the world and doing the work together.” - @a21

As true vegan cat, I don’t eat or use other sentient animals. The canned Evolution food excites me!

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 5, 1824 Moses Dickson formed secret organizations for the abolition of slavery. At the age of 16, he began a three year tour of the South that influenced the Knights of Liberty. The Knights of Liberty had over 47,000 members who planned to initiate a national insurrection against slavery and stood readily to fight for freedom. In the year of 1856, Dickson created a smaller organization called “Order of Twelve” and then redirected his attention to education and economic development. Joining the AME Church, Dickson became an ordained minister and Grand Master of the Prince Hall Masons. Moses promoted self help organizations for African Americans to provide them with aid and support. Rev. Moses Dickson died November 28, 1901 leaving a legacy of a true American Hero. ⠀

#AHistoryofBlackExcellence #ALLY #SPOTLIGHT #johnbrown John Brown was a radical #abolitionist who believed in the violent overthrow of the slavery system. During the Bleeding Kansas conflicts, Brown and his sons led attacks on pro-slavery residents. Justifying his actions as the will of God, Brown soon became a hero in the eyes of Northern extremists and was quick to capitalize on his growing reputation. By early 1858, he had succeeded in enlisting a small “army” of insurrectionists whose mission was to foment rebellion among the slaves. In 1859, Brown and 21 of his followers attacked and occupied the federal arsenal in Harpers Ferry. Their goal was to capture supplies and use them to arm a slave rebellion. Brown was captured during the raid and later hanged, but not before becoming an anti-slavery icon. #blm #history #americanhistory #africanamericanhistory #antislavery #slavery #Revolution #change #resist

“I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.” - Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks was born and raised in the southern state of Alabama. She rose to fame after refusing to give up her seat to white passengers on a bus. At the time in Montgomery, all public transportation was segregated, and when she refused the bus driver’s instructions to vacate her seat, she was arrested. While she was found guilty and fined $10, Parks went on to not inadvertently start the most famous bus boycott in history, she also inspired the African-American community to take legal action, which resulted in the district court declaring racial segregation laws unconstitutional. #enchantyourmind #audreydaybook

Passmore Williamson (February 23, 1822 - February 1, 1895) was an abolitionist and businessman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a free state in the antebellum years. Williamson was the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society, a more radical group founded in 1789 with members of both races. He was also a member of the Vigilance Committee made up of men who directly aided fugitive slaves and resisted the Fugitive Slave Act after its passage in 1850. Williamson is best known for helping Jane Johnson and her two sons gain freedom from slavery on July 18, 1855. In 1855 Williamson served 100 days in Moyamensing Prison for violating the so called "Fugitive Slave Act". His case attracted extensive press coverage, as northern publications spread the story. While imprisoned, he received numerous letters and several hundred visitors, including African-American abolitionists Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. Williamson was on the right side of history. His contributions to the advancement of African Americans and the disenfranchised has made him a true American Hero.⠀

Sharing two views of Arcana 7, The Chariot, today. William Lloyd Garrison was the editor of the anti-slavery newspaper, the Liberator, from 1831 to 1865. Abolitionist views were in the minority until the very eve of the American Civil War, and Garrison had to contend with both threats on his life by slave-holders, and criticism from other abolitionists for his radical rhetoric. The Chariot in the Tarot symbolizes unswerving dedication and willpower. Garrison's gift to the nation was taking the slavery issue out of the hands of religious sects and political parties, and underscoring rather that it was a matter of the violation of human rights. True to his word, he did not stop publishing his paper until the 13th amendment was passed. Garrison exemplifies the energy of the Tarot's Chariot in the force of his discipline and commitment in the face of great opposition. Consider his address in the inaugural issue of the Liberator:

Assenting to the “self-evident truth” maintained in the American Declaration of Independence, “that all men are created equal, and
endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights – among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” I shall strenuously contend for the immediate enfranchisement of our slave population … I am aware that many object to the severity of my language; but is there
not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as
uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or speak, or write, with moderation. No! no! Tell a man whose house is on fire, to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue
his wife from the hands of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; – but urge me not to use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest – I will not equivocate – I will not excuse – I will not retreat a single inch – AND I WILL BE HEARD.

Managing my own retreat next to GeorgeWashingtons retreat from #nyc ! I had forgotten how totally massacred gw was in #newyorkCity ! retreats are like illnesses ie find a bright spot like #AlexanderHamilton who defended him and saved his life during the retreat at #harlem and #washingtonheights ! the army went from about 24000 on July 4 1776 to 2000 by #Christmas ! Hamilton remembered his first battle which led to a ‘marriage’ to George Washington and with exhilaration setting up his home overlooking the #HarlemRiver #Hudsonriver ! Go see the Grange an incredible spot of joy ! Hamilton began his education at #KingsCollege near #TrinityChurch where he is buried ! Later Hamilton was framed in a sex scandal where the husband of his lover Mr Reynolds pimped his wife out for extortion related to #veterans back pay ! Hamilton was known to recite the ten commandments ( or ten dollars of holiness ) in #Hebrew ! Hamilton’s mother Rachel faucitt converted to #judaism when she married john Michael levine ! #danish law on their island of #stcroix forbade #christians from marrying #Jews ! This would explain why Hamilton as a known #JewishChristian and author of the farewell address of Washington was never considered for president ! This son of #Jerusalem and #israel was the financial architect of the #money #wealth of the #UnitedStates and was the head of the order of Cincinnatus when he was murdered by Aaron burr ! his last dying words were ‘father forgive them they know not what they do! ‘ Hamilton was born out of wedlock as the talmud claims #Jesus was and both died for their country ! In conclusion every disease every retreat ideally leads to your greater personal #sacrifice for #love country and world ! Hamilton was #abolitionist from the start ! #transformation #transformers #visionary architect of government as intelligence

OUTREACH. Sometimes ya gotta go way out on a limb and reach OUT to spaces you wouldn't necessarily expect incarceration to touch. A robust jobs re-entry program in the SF fine dining industry? It exists! And it's amazing! We can beat this prison system if we work together and get OUT of our comfort zones and usual social scenes. It's going to take a lot more - we ain't stopping until every prison is empty. Hit us up with other creative ways you outreach and fundraise, we need to do this together. Thank you to all the people, @tacoscala @centralkitchen for your donations, time, and space.

QUOTE•••
•William Lloyd Garrison/The Liberator•
•Time(1, January 1831)•
~"Oppression! I have seen thee, face to face, and met thy cruel eye and cloudy brow; But thy soul-withering glance I fear not now- For dread to prouder feelings doth give place of deep abhorrence! Scorning the disgrace of slavish knees that at thy footstool bow, I also kneel but with far other vow, Do hail thee and thy hord of hirelings base: I swear, while life blood warms my throbbing veins, Still to oppose and thwart, with heart and hand, Thy brutalising sway till Afric's chains are burst, and Freedom rules the rescued land, Trampling Oppression and his iron rod: Such is the vow I take- SO HELP ME GOD!" - William Lloyd Garrison quoted from his editorial in the newspaper The Liberator labeled "To the Public." During 1831 the US was almost on the verge of a Civil War. Abolitionists such as Garrison here felt that slavery was pure wrong and that their voices should be heard. Garrison was a suffragist, an author, and an abolitionist who expressed his views about the wrongs in society through his newspaper. He states earlier in the editorial that all of America was wrong, humanity itself was wrong, not just the South. Stating the North and it's harsh ways must end (as well as the south). He even uses the Declaration of Independence in an ironic way to show that all men were stated to be equal. Garrison went on to publish his editorial including the mini poem he attaches at the end labeled "...fresh dedication," every single day in his newspaper until the end of the civil war (1865) when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed which ended slavery in the US. William, your voice was heard and answered. Thank you for all you did.~

Dressember day 8
In my personal life I have seen and witnessed the kids that are abused, vulnerable and stripped of dignity. Not knowing the difference between right and wrong because it has been perverted from the time they were born. I’ve also seen the residual damage as these kids grow up and try to change the patterns and then fall into it all over again, the victims now the perpetrators. It’s a hard long road...but we have also seen redemption, healing and lives and families changed.
The National Center for Exploited Children reports between 100,000 and 300,000 children being trafficked in the U.S. alone.
We need to change the statistics, we need to change the stories and it starts with us.
