Update on Felipe Anderson. West Ham are reportedly waiting on an answer from Lazio in order to confirm their fourth signing of the summer transfer window. Whilst Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski have already signed for the Irons, new manager Manuel Pellegrini remains frustrated in his attempts to welcome Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson to the club.
Reports from Italy earlier this week claimed a deal was almost done for €30m and Anderson would be on his way to east London, though football.london understood a deal was never that close. It was then claimed that money was proving to be a sticking point between the two clubs as Lazio are now demanding an extra €4m, - taking the transfer fee to €34m in total - in order to get the deal done before the Irons are due back for pre-season training early next month. Furthermore, it's understood that the Serie A side want £4.4m worth of add-ons to be included in any deal and are also revisiting the terms of the sell-on clause. Now it's being reported by Il Tempo - via Sport Witness - that the delay in this transfer is not on the Hammers. The newspaper claims that West Ham's latest offer for the Brazilian forward was €35m + €3m in bonuses with Lazio due to receive 10% of any future sale. However, they've not received a response. Despite the bid not matching the club's asking price, chairman Claudio Lotito has thought twice about rejecting it. What happens next with Felipe Anderson remains to be seen, but what once looked like a straightforward transfer deal is slowly developing into somewhat of a saga.
For me I think Felipe Anderson is a great player but for that kind of money it’s a huge risk. Money like that is not spend often at West Ham and if he fails to produce then it’s a lot of money gone down the drain. Personally I would rather see that money spent on Ruben Loftus Cheek as he has proven his talent with Palace last season. #transfernews #westham #premierleague #football #Anderson
