Tis the season for warming foods! 🍁 Another #wellnesswednesday grid TCM style and this week we’re looking at more Veggies to warm your body in these cooler months. 🔥 🧡

In Traditional Chinese Medicine terms 👉🏼 Warming foods help tonify/nourish the Yang in our bodies and Cooling foods help tonify the Yin. In this Chinese Medicine Philosophy, it is encouraged to eat more warming vegetables in the cooler months and more cooling veggies in the warmer months, to assist our bodies in dealing with the elements. SO if you’re battling with the cooler weather or have poor circulation (maybe this won’t apply to my fellow Californians 😉) then incorporating more of these vegetables will help warm your body up. 🧡✨

🔥 Yang-deficiency reflects an insufficiency in the body's functionality resulting in a slower metabolism, and is manifested by an internal exuberance of yin (cold) . Symptoms include pale complexion, cold body and limbs, an aversion to cold, a desire for warmth, a weak spirit, drowsiness and lethargy, pale tongue, and a weak pulse. .
🧡You’ll see in this grid a lot of root vegetables, these are considered warming as they are grown under the ground. Other warming veggies you can include in your diet to help nourish the Yang are kale, mustard greens, leeks, squash, parsnip and radish. . 💛Cold food and cold liquids will further drain the body’s yang energy. ‘cold foods’ refers not only to those directly taken from the fridge/freezer but also to raw foods, as they require extra energy for digestion compared to pre-cooked foods. This could mean choosing steamed vegetables over a green salad or switching from granola to oatmeal for breakfast. 🧡✨

In 2008 when Henry was winning his first Grey Cup Championship playing for the Calgary Stampeders in 2008, I was also there.
