Cospositive Post!! -
The photo on the left is from my very first con/cosplay that was a little over 2 years ago. The photo on the right is a more recent cosplay of mine. In the short span of two years, I’ve learned how to budget my cosplays and pay more attention to the costume’s accuracy (I personally love having details in my cosplays!). With these two photos juxtaposed—in my personal opinion—you can see a transformation in my costume quality. While the quality may be different, I’m still have an amazing time in both of the pictures! I was feeling giddy and happy in the left photo, and very fierce and powerful in the right. My point with this post is that cosplay isn’t about quality! It’s about the amount of fun you can have while cosplaying! I feel like we’re coming to a point in the community where quality is overriding the fun aspect of cosplaying and is causing people to ask more questions like, “Who has the more accurate cosplay?” or “Who looks more like the character?” “Can I cosplay this character if I don’t look like them?”
Guys, there is no correct way to cosplay! If you enjoy a character and want to cosplay them, go for it! Don’t worry about the quality or the accuracy; Just have fun with it!
