@shotonbothsides has had some excellent posts on silver recently and why you should be buying it right now, so I thought this would be a good time to clear up some misconceptions and make silver buying easy for newcomers. Silver is super-undervalued right now because (imho), it's being manipulated. It currently costs more to mine silver than its worth, representing a huge opportunity for investors. I have seen estimates that put silver at as much as a 600% return in the next 12 months, not to mention that it' could be the difference between eating & starving, if shit hits the fan.
Some quick, pointers. In my photo, you will see 4 pieces, representing 3 types of investments. Except the quarter, all the pieces are I ounce, .9999% silver. Silver is running about $15 an ounce these days. I buy mine in pawn shops.
1. Silver Eagle - premium coin. Generally $5 over spot in my area($15+$5 COMMISSION). I do NOT buy these often, as they won't be worth anymore than the other coins at the end of the day. I usually buy these to give away as Christmas gifts, to try and get people interested in investing in silver.
2. Silver Buffalo and Silver Swan - meat and potatoes. This is where the majority of my investment lies; this is only two types. There are dozens in this category. Run of the mill, rounds and bars. Usually around $1.50 over spot($15+1.50). I have seen people claim bars have less purity. Not true. The bar in this photo has the same purity as the Eagle & Buffalo. I have heard U.S.coins are worth more. Also not true. The Australian bar in this photo is the same price as the rounds.
3. Pre 64 Quarter (Junk silver) - don't let the name fool you; this stuff isn't as pure, but its good to have around for bartering. Trust me, if silver goes to $100 an ounce, you dont wanna be dropping buffalo rounds for ramen noodles. Get some junk silver; quarters, dimes, etc.
Buy as pure as you can get, as cheap as you can get. If you aren't sure, ask questions. Buy from reputable dealers. Stay away from parking lot deals unless you know the seller, and are very knowledgeable in what you're doing.
Do not pay premiums for fancy crap. It doesnt pay you back. #silver #invest #wwg1wga
