First Blood (1982) 🎞
While it's been 35 years when this film came out, it almost made me want to review this movie.
Actually, funny enough, while I was on my way home from Vancouver, I came across a town in British Columbia and saw a movie theatre that was playing First Blood, along with two posters and I got curious and I thought to myself "maybe First Blood was filmed here" and ironically I was right about that, I didn't realize I was in the town where the movie was filmed, damn, so that made me want to review this movie.
During the Rocky days, Stallone made the Rambo movies, the first one is a movie adaptation of the book, in fact I have a copy of the book, it's sitting in my shelf waiting for me to grab it, haven't finished it but it's really interesting and kind of better than the movie.
First Blood follows Vietnam War veteran, John Rambo who heads to a town where a disgruntled Sheriff's Department whom "the Sheriff around these parts" considers him a nuisance and doesn't want him in town, until Rambo pisses them off and gets pursued.
Since the movies are considered action movies with explosions and war elements and what else can you have a hero with a name like John Rambo.
The 80s action movies were filled with protagonists named John.
This film has some of that, but when I first watched this movie three years ago, I just loved the survival aspect for this movie.
Instead of the usual explosions and gunfire, this film focuses more on survival.
When Rambo sets up those traps, goddamn did this film become more violent than ever.
I just love how Sylvester Stallone has a way of portraying iconic characters in different genres.
Of course I love him as Rocky Balboa more than John Rambo.
