Our Ante (aka The Boss) played a very important football match last Sunday. This red jersey is an honour to wear. It represents Transplant Australia’s Football Club, made entirely of players who have received the gift of life in the form of a donated organ.
Ante was gifted a strong, healthy organ in February of 2015, after a 15 year-long battle with a liver disease. The reality for him at that time – his wife pregnant with their first child, his health quickly deteriorating, wills completed and simply waiting. Waiting for that phone call that changed their lives.
Ante was one of the lucky ones. In a country as progressive, wealthy and innovative as Australia, there is still a long list of people who die waiting for organ transplants. Sadly that’s the reality in a country where education around organ donation really lacks. You can’t buy a new organ, they can’t manufacture them, but we can all register our intention to donate our organs when we die. And very importantly, communicate our desire to our families and loved ones (who make the ultimate decision). As a family and a business whose lives were changed because of organ donation, we encourage you to visit @donatelifetoday, follow the simple prompts and register yourself as an organ donor. You never know whose life you’re going to save.
And for those of our followers who are already registered to be organ donors – raise your hands so we can acknowledge you!!
