One of the small inclusions that I enjoyed in Justice League, and to a lesser extent in Batman v Superman, is the idea that Batman actually feels overwhelmed at the discovery that there are super-powered beings on Earth that far outclass everything he's been able to accomplish via years of training. This ties into the fact that Batman is the one JL founding member who doesn't have powers, and the zero issue of the 2006 Justice League of America series (that would be JLA volume 2, if you're keeping track) has a particularly good scene that shows Batman grappling with this realization. Here, an intentionally retro-looking Batman and Superman discuss their first adventure with other metahumans like Green Lantern and the Flash, and Superman asks Batman if he's ready to begin forming a "League." In many ways, Batman is reluctant, and Superman understands his dark, emo friend quite well - "It was just the simple and unavoidable realization that there were bigger things on this planet than him." Ultimately, however, Batman is a problem-solver, and rather than run from this fear of the unknown, Bats decides to *control* it as best he can. Thus, you could say that Batman's role in founding the League is partially an effort to establish some small sense of AUTHORITY over a world that he "no longer recognizes" (to quote Alfred in the movie)...and along the way, he happens to grow and trust his super-powered companions more than he expected. This tidbit of character growth is something that tends to be forgotten in many iterations of the Justice League, which often portray Batman as an all-knowing Batgod or a cold asshole, and for all its flaws, I'm glad that the film hinted at this deeper (and dare I say insecure?) side of the Dark Knight. Oooookay! Doomsday Clock # 1 is this week! "What's it about?" you ask? Well, what if there was more that happened after Watchmen ended? And what if it involved the DCU? What if it was created by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank AND it's completely insane?

Well, that's what it's about, and it's out on Wednesday. Call in sick. Fake your own death. Get to your shop and pick it up. And ask for a Doomsday Clock pin, too.

Repost from @thebatandthecatforever - People are really buzzing about this little scene in Justice League. Could this thief be our Selina? Or just an extremely similar looking woman?
The first time, I was on board to believe it's her. But after watching a second time, with this idea in mind, I feel maybe it's a stretch. We're all ready to see who gets cast as Selina. She definitely has that Audrey Hepburn feel about her, which Selina has been styled after before. But daylight, with a group of men, etc. I'm just not totally sold, yet.
What do you guys think? Everyone jumping to conclusions in hopes we find our Catwoman? Or could this really be her?
I can see why it feels like it, but I'm not sold. Maybe watching a third time will change my mind, again.
