I've had a very busy past few weeks and I think this Sunday calls for a much needed day of rest and relaxation. On that note, here's a 1964 Ford Thunderbird that I spotted looking like the epitome of a 'Sunday driver'. 1964 was the first year of the fourth generation Thunderbird's new, more square body-style and boy, could you tell. The Thunderbirds of the 50's screamed Jet Age America, while those of the 60's were rocking the Space Age vibe. It's easy to see why this generation of Thunderbird was successful for Ford, too. This example sports a beautiful white hardtop exterior (T-Bird's were also offered with Landau and Convertible options in '64) matched with a rose/brown interior that blows me away so much I had to include a photo of it (not taken by me!). Even for the 60's, this car was generously equipped with power steering, power brakes, electric windows and air conditioning. Under the hood of this classic when it was first sold was a 390 cubic-inch V8 putting out around 300hp. The motor was paired with a 3-speed automatic with the shifter mounted on the column. Column shifters are pretty much a thing of the past now, especially in sedans (they can still be found in trucks and SUV's) but it really makes a whole lot of sense and means the center console can be used for more important things. Like cup holders and cubby holes! Anyway, I thought you'd all enjoy this classic Ford. I've got so many other cars I want to post soon that I've actually got a note on my iPhone with about 15 cars on there. I'll try to stay more organized.
Rarity Factor: It's a classic car, but this is an affordable classic. 4th gen T-birds sell in the mid-teens.
Baller Rating: It's a car that looks like it could genuinely take off for flight. Ford even referred to the interior as 'the cockpit' in commercials!
