🌟 ON BEING VULNERABLE.
I had the most AMAZING call this morning.
What started as something simple about sales funnels turned into this gorgeous, messy revolution of faith and feminism and family and HOLY CATS WAS IT INVIGORATING. Because there were some earth-shattering changes, some huge “wait, can I do that??” moments, and some fantastical plans made for the future.
And it got me thinking a lot about vulnerability on social media, especially in this app.
If you have to say “ok, so I’m gonna be vulnerable here -”
If you have to say “sorry if this offends, but I guess I’ll just say it -”
If you have to say “whoa guys, major feelings alert, it’s about to get real -”
Odds are it’s not.
It’s just reusing the language you think you’re supposed to use.
Vulnerability is a beautiful thing, and I like SO MUCH that the embrace of this concept is leading to hard conversations.
But vulnerability is not a marketing tool and should not be used as such.
The moment you decide to be vulnerable in order to market to your audience, with no deeper purpose is the moment you start to lose the people who are truly, deeply, madly YOUR PEOPLE.
Just be you.
Tell your story.
It’s all in the telling. 💖
