(Episode 01: Waiting)
Hey," he understood, "I am okay. Its just a scratch. I am fine.
And he held the chocolate up for her again.
Shut up," she broke down at last, taking his arm in her hands. Quickly she took out her handkerchief and tied it around the wound.
Let me see the knee," she demanded, still sobbing.
He lifted up the jeans and she could see the deep cuts around the knee cap. "Give me your hankie," she said.
What!" He smiled giving her his handkerchief, "aren't you going to tear your dupatta and tie up the wound? That's how they do it.
Shut up," she laughed at his joke, but tears continued to flow as she tied up the knee wound, "we aren't going to class today. We'll go to the chemist and get these taken care of. And then go home.
Hey," he caught hold of her face and looked into her eyes, smiling, "I am okay. But I am sorry I was late.
Shut up," she said softly this time, "why do you have to hurry all the time. I could wait. I could wait my whole life.
I know," he said, rubbing her tears, " but I couldn't wait to see you.
And they didn't say a word after that. It continued raining outside the bus stop as the two sat their waiting for the afternoon sun to come out. No, he never proposed after that night in 1998. But when their eyes met, lips craved and skin touched each other, their heart knew, they didn't need a proposal.
