@felipelopez13 was selected 24th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1998 NBA Draft from St.Johns, and was immediately traded along with Calvin Herrera to the Vancouver Grizzlies for point guard Antonio Daniels. He played 112 games for the Grizzlies before being traded to the Washington Wizards along with Dennis Scott, Cherokee Parks, and Obinna Ekezie in exchange for free agent Isaac Austin on August 22, 2000.
Lopez was considered the best highschool player in America in 1994 after appearing on the cover of Sports illustrated. He was once dubbed as the "Spanish" Michael Jordan after being born in the Dominican Republic and moving to New York City where he attended Rice High School.
Today Lopez is still very involved in the game, helping as an ambassador for NBA Cares. He also launched the Felipe Lopez Foundation, which gives athletic and academic oppurtunities to children in Washington Heights.
