“Can an angel break your heart”
I have often used photography as a medium when I work as I value the immediate and the intuitive. Momentary emotional sketches to help me hold a thought, or a state of being, to then later inform the main work. However, occasionally I let them take on a life on their own and become works themselves. This is a detail from a video with audio. A shallow pool of water, ghost like beings moving above the sharp rigid seemingly perfect tiled squares. The angels of our minds, the free instinctual spirits dilating above the static monotone, the planned, organised state of our comfortable “safe” state of mind. It’s all very Freudian reminding us with their fleeting and elusive gestures the connection and importance between the irrational and rational.
I loved how the camera changed transparency into solid, the hypnotically beautiful almost sexual gestures against the black darkness. See it live @fondationlv in Paris
