Disclaimer: long post, folks. Today I cried twice. I came to school (with 45 minutes of sleep because my baby was up until 5:00a) and was greeted with a maintenance emergency in my classroom... a pipe busted and water was flowing into my stock room from the ceiling... right above my most expensive paper rack. Shoutout to @levibruns for helping me pull out as much of it as we could before the ceiling tiles caved on top of us and water gushed to form a lake on my floor. As the janitors were mopping up the water, I couldn't make my brain decipher what to do next. So, I left for Dunkin' to get a coffee for each hand so I could begin to face the day. As I sat in the parking lot, tears just started streaming down my face hoping for a miracle.
I moved my classes around the school because my room was a disaster, except for my last class- my Advanced Kids. I explained what the day had been like and asked if they wouldn't mind helping me salvage the remains. They went above and beyond. Those nuggets sorted, organized, recycled, painted the walls, cleaned, and mopped all within a 1 hour and 45 minute block with no complaints. Every hand willing to help out somehow. My students never cease to amaze me with their selflessness, talent, and love for our department. They make my heart so full. I had some happy tears on the way home thinking about how proud I am to be their teacher. I truly have the best job in the world.
Sadly, no whiteboard today. Amidst the craziness, it never even crossed my mind until my Advisory came in with sad faces- but they understood. Ah, another day in the life of an educator. Tomorrow will be a new day, hopefully it's just a small mess to handle... #artteacher #artteacherlife #artteachersofinstagram #teacherlife #teachersofig #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #artstudent #artkids #artdepartment #iteach #iteachart #iteachtoo #mystudents #proudteacher #happytears #adayinthelife #mystudentsrock #gowiththeflow #literally #sotired #longday #tomorrowisanewday #lovethesekids
