This is me and my hair after experimenting for a week with water-only shampoo #nopoo.
Got curious about the hashtag and read about how no-poo-ers achieve healthier, shinier, more luscious hair without any of the harmful toxins from traditional shampoo.
I have flat hair. I think it's pretty healthy because I don't have split ends and it grows quickly but I do have occasional dry scalp (dandruff) and falling hair since forever. Though I'm a clean freak, I am pretty low maintenance. I usually just shampoo my hair, recently with package-free shampoo bars. I condition my hair when I remember it (my mom gets furious when i don't condition every day 🙊). I maintain a short bob because I can't handle combing too much and because my hairfall worsens when i have long hair.
Results so far:
On my 1 week experiment, I saw that my dried scalp healed on the 5th day. But somehow dried up again on the 7th. I had waaaay less hairfall and it became more manageable when dry, unlike before when I had lion-like mane that I always had to tie. I did notice my hair becoming pretty greasy starting on the 3rd day. However, after combing, it looked like I just had a blow-dry! It feels like I just have leave-on conditioner. I am amazed but I have mixed emotions! I need to read up more.
P.S. No, my hair doesn't stink at all, except maybe when I cook something pungent. Yes, I still take a bath 2x a day. 😒
