Japan is in the rainy season right now. But yesterday was sunny! I and my staff visited Omihachiman. There is old town scenery remaining in Omihachiman and this place is usually used as a shooting location for films and historical dramas called Jidaigeki. The movies “Rurouni Kenshin” and “Nomitori Samurai” was shoot there. Also, yesterday a drama or film was shoot there. A lady in kimono was an actress Miki Sakai. When we rode in a boat on Hashiman-bori and passed her, she waved her hand! She was so beautiful. Hachiman-bori is a canal constructed by Hidetsugu Toyotomi, a nephew of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, to connect the town and Lake Biwa. The town was developed with this canal. You can go through Hachiman-bori by a boat. We rode in a hand rowing boat. A boatman explained a history of Hachiman-bori. You can also enjoy cherry blossoms in Spring and autumn leaves in Autumn from a boat.
