The Why?// What does sitting in a classroom and playing sport have in common? Both can lead to tight hips! Sports such as hockey, tennis, track, basketball etc put the hip muscles (psoas and iliopsoas) in a shortened state similar to when you are seated.

Treatment// Here we are actively releasing the psoas muscle on a young basketball player taking it from a shortened state to a lengthened state. This type of release coupled with hip mobility drills and hip stretches helps counter the shortened state that the hip muscles are in while he’s playing on the court or sitting in the classroom.

Inversion ankle sprains are the most common type of sports injury. The most effective form of therapy involves a combination of manual therapy with the intention to reduce inflammation to support restoration of movement (mobility) and Proprioception (balance). #TeamTHI is super proud and truly motivated by this young man. He completed his 2nd 1/2 marathon yesterday finishing in 17th place out of 29 participants in his age group. He was referred to #THI by @lorianndj
with a strain to his hamstring 2 weeks ago.
@thehealthpusha Dr. J was able to address this injury with soft tissue therapy- #functionalrangerelease and #medicalacupuncture. Dr. J also utilized controlled articular rotations at his ankle, knee and hip adding it to his pre-run routine.
