☀️Reminds me of one of my trips back to Taiwan and going down south to Gaoxiong in 2015. I split roads with some of my travel buddies in Tainan and headed to this city alone to visit an old friend I had met when first moving to study at a university in Taipei.
Anyways - dude I walked for like 9 hours straight all around the harbour that day, then saw this sign pointing to “The Martyr’s Shrine” on top of this big ass hill overlooking the city. So I got a sticky rice sausage and started huffing up that thing. On the way up I was like, “Why am I turning this into a workout? Why can’t you just relax, man?” I was walking through this weird semi jungle and highway winding around the mountain and Taiwanese people were looking at me like, “why is this white boy walking up this thing”. Anyways I was super thirsty and stopped at this beautiful tea house. Little wicker chairs, singing birds in cages, people drinking tea, chatting, having a smoke, whatever. Just looking at the hood go by and just being singular for a moment. Don’t make it too complicated. I’ll never forget it. 🍵 🙏🏻 🌴
