I didn't realise just how much goes into #NGO and #volunteering work until today or the red tape they face & have to abide by.
I had the pleasure of meeting @neezo87 from @humanrelieffoundation at around midnight yesterday after he had a 6am-7pm day followed by going around shopping all evening for the next days distributions, on a motorbike he rode for the first time the day before, then a meeting with myself till 1am- it's midnight right now and he's probably still out doing the same relentless work for tomorrow.
Alongside him in this photo is Tayyab- a #Rohingyan man he has empowered to organise his school, its curriculum and provide reports on- which after opening only four days ago has admitted 150 #Rohingya children to learn Burmese, English and Maths. Unfortunately recent changes have set to stop children from learning Bangla here.
This is after building a masjid, madrasa, a kitchen which feeds 1200, an eco housing village (with solar panels for lights to be installed soon), distributing rape alarms, educating adults and children on environmental cleanliness, campaigning for fundraising and planning a medical centre to open next week.
That's tiring just to type but still these guys have so much energy and enthusiasm through the day & keep the children entertained- who know him as fagala i.e 'crazy man!' When the guys at my hotel asked "where are you from" he simply replied "ami Sylheti!" No dude- you are extraordinary.
Thank you for the bike ride, fast & furious style- see you tomorrow!
