#MarshawnLynch doesn't speak unless it's of utmost importance, so when he sat during the #NationalAnthem yet again this preseason: he was actually being quite communicative. It just so happens that sports media types can't sell a story without "proper" deliberation. Marshawn refused to stand during the star spangled banner all of last year, and based on Friday night's gesture, he'll be doing the same in 2018.

The Raider's opponents, the #Detroit Lions , locked arms in protest in a similar gesture of disavowal. Other playersaround the #NFL did so as well. #Miami Dolphins ' starters #KennyStills and Albert Wilson both took a knee before the commencement of their game against the #TampaBay Buccaneers. Teammate #RobertQuinn expressed his repudiation a little differently, choosing instead to raise his fist during the anthem.

In #Philadelphia Malcolm Jenkins and De'Vante Bausby both raised fist before kickoff, the former one of the more outspoken critics of #DonaldTrump during the White House disinvitation scandal. Until the #NFL submits a finalized rule change proposal, players choosing to protest the anthem will not be penalized, much to Donald Trump's dismay. If anthem protest eventually becomes a punishable act by decree, players like Marshawn Lynch who've shown themselves to be uncomprising, might be willing to take a stand.

Marshawn spent most of the game on the bench, but he did manage this 60-yard TD run that was eventually called back due to a holding penalty.

Beast Mode can still fly.

Former Redskins CB @bree2land6 is coming by and visiting the Dolphins tomorrow. Should we pick him up?
My personal take: We are already set at CB for the most part however adding another one wouldn't hurt. It would be like the Langford signing as Breeland would be a solid backup.
My take (Delgado): Our CB2 spot is very shaky with 3 different guys competing as well as having no clue how good or bad they will be next season. I really hope we sign him, and make him our starter CB2, none of this "solid backup" crap

from @errythangnanythang - ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 -Several NFL players knelt, raised fists or simply refused to take the field during the playing of the national anthem as a controversial protest against police brutality dragged into the 2018 preseason. As The Associated Press reports, in Philadelphia, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who suspended his protest last December, and cornerback De'Vante Bausby, raised their fists while defensive end Chris Long stood with his arm around Jenkins' shoulder.
.
Defensive end Michael Bennett walked out of the tunnel during the anthem and walked toward the bench while it played. Sports Illustrated reports that the Jaguars' Jalen Ramsey, Telvin Smith, Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon did not join their teammates skipping the pregame performance of the anthem. In Seattle, three Seahawks also declined to take the field. Meanwhile, the Dolphins' Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson knelt, while defensive end Robert Quinn raised his fist.
.
The renewed protests come after the National Football League sought to put the controversy behind it by formulating a new policy requiring athletes and staff to "stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.” However, that policy, announced in May, was put on hold last month when the NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to suspend enforcement of the new rules. “Everybody is waiting for what the league is going to do," Jenkins said, according to AP. The NFL season kicked off with its pre-season games last night. One of the most-watched aspects of the games was not necessarily the games themselves; but an accounting of which players would summon their courage and engage in protest during the national anthem. As reported earlier this summer, the league issued a mandate for all NFL players who intend on continuing their silent protests against police brutality to do one or two things All protesters are allowed to do so but only perform this protest inside of the tunnel or in the locker room. In other words, no protesting on the field at all whatsoever, otherwise be fined.
All teams were issued the memo but that didn't change all of the players mind. Last night during Thursday Night Football players decided to take part in protesting on the field.

Although it became a league policy during this years of season, certain players from the @miamidolphins decided to continue, as they both promised. WR Kenny Stills both knelt while DE Robert Quinn raised his fist up high while the anthem was sung.
Others who participated were ex Chiefs receiver and now Dolphins teammate WR Albert Wilson also knelt for the anthem prior to the game versus the @buccaneers. Not a single player from Tampa participated. For it is important that awake people be awake,
or a breaking line may discourage them back to sleep;
the signals we give--yes or no, or maybe--
should be clear: the darkness around us is deep.
