Prevention Week Day 7: Our final day today and we focus on plastics and how chemicals used to make them can have a negative impact on our health. Some plastics contain chemicals, such as BPA, that can interfere with hormones (known as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals or EDCs) may contribute to an increased risk of breast cancer. Reducing your use of plastics that contain these chemicals can help to reduce levels in the body. Visit our website to find out more: http://ow.ly/YFED30lTP70

Prevention Week Day 6: Today we highlight the growing concerns about pre-natal exposures to chemicals that can interfere with our hormones (known as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals or EDCs) which may be contributing to an increased risk of certain health problems, such as, childhood obesity, asthma and adult diseases, such as, endometritis and breast cancer.
Reducing your use of cleaning products, creams and cosmetics that contain these chemicals during pregnancy can help to reduce levels in the body. Visit our website to find out more: http://ow.ly/Lo8s30lTNgG

Message to all, no matter what your gender is (hint: men, if you don't already - share the workload of the unpaid chores at home, and when you do, choose products that are kind to everyone's bodies): reducing your use of cleaning products or air refreshers that contain these chemicals can help reduce Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) levels in the body.

A massive shout out and congratulations  to this spectacular group of people. Approximately 6 months ago they took a step to change their lives for the better and joined the FREE My Health for Life program. Last night was our last session together and I am so proud of each and every one of them. Through the program they have learnt skills to implement healthy lifestyle behaviours and make them lifelong habits. We have had some huge achievements in the last 6 months and all participants are motivated and focused on continuing their journey to a healthier life.
Together the group (6 participants) has lost a combined 15kg during the program. Many of the participants had lost weight not recorded in this figure after learning about the program and came to their first session following screening having already taken some steps to a healthier life. One of these has lost a whopping 22kg since March! The participants all set varying goals with some meeting or exceeding them and the rest making big progress towards them. There have been some remarkable changes and results include
- significantly increased physical activity levels - improved energy levels
- improved motivation - reduction in stress - improved sleep
- weight loss - reduction in waist circumference - increased positivity - improved self confidence
This group has also become an inspiration and motivation for those around them to make positive changes towards a healthy lifestyle and the ripple effect has well and truly commenced.
THANK YOU to all of you for being my inaugural group. I have learnt so much from you all and I am so excited to see you continue on your individual health journeys.
Our next My Health For Life program is starting soon. This FREE program gives you the tools to make positive changes to your health and lifestyle. To find out if you’re eligible for the program pop in store for a 5 min health screen or head to www.myhealthforlife.com.au
