#MarchMadness has begun and to join in on this month’s frenzy, here are two of #Rauschenberg’s “Anagram” artworks depicting #basketballs: “Casino” (1996) and “Gameroom” (1996). For the “Anagram” series Rauschenberg used his own photographs as source material for digital color transfers on paper. The recurring #inkjet dye image of basketballs reveals Rauschenberg’s interest in sports and their paraphernalia as a favorite motif.
Rauschenberg was a #star contender in the arts #bracket . In a basketball analogy, Rauschenberg's son Christopher once described his dad as a #teamplayer, contributing resources to and advancing the group of artists he surrounded himself with to achieve success.
