My handsome husband asked me to make a quilt for his co-worker who is giving us some furniture. (Mini me copied me lint rolling 😂) Pattern by @quilt.theory Kona Cotton solids Fun pieced back using bits of the front & two triangle prints from my stash . . . . . .
It's done with one day to spare! Some things I learned while I made this... 1) I love making HST/QSTs. 2) I suck at making HST/QSTs. 3) The end product rarely matches my initial vision. Sometimes this is good. This is not one of those times. I feel like one fabric choice threw the whole thing off. Oh well, #learnngcurve 4) The best motivation to learn FMQ is walking foot quilting chevron lines. I spent more time pivoting and squishing my quilt thru the arm than actually sewing. (It was good practice tho.) 5) If you pick the perfect backing, the unintentional customizations on the front matter less. I love the backing fabric! What really matters is my husband will love it because it will remind him of the mountains back home. #idahome#showmethemoda#quilttheory#mountaincallquilt#quilting#quiltsofinstagram#quilt#beginnerquilting
Day 4 #igquiltfest Fast Finish- I went through my feed to see which ones finished quickly and this one using a @quilt.theory pattern was my favorite as it is quick but still has some interest to it. . Regrann from @kupitis - Well I managed to finish my first April quilt top! Even with power out for 6 hours 😑 "Prairie Spring" (think snow, mud and yellow grass!) I received my amazing #culcitabox on Monday with this bundle and the box included the Ocean Path Quilt pattern by @nightquilter ! What a great pattern with a quick finish! Now I understand why people make throw size 😄 - mine are usually around 80 x 90
I used two different fabrics on the sides (white and black) vs one, and added a piece of white in the middle column to help with the transition - All because this is selfish sewing for my bed at the ranch! . I am just going to do simple quilting and a black and white striped binding on the bias.
Most of the #quilttheory team is here at #quiltcon2018 ! It’s been so fun to see each other and reconnect! If you haven’t stopped by the @culcitabox booth yet, there are some great sample quilts as well as some patterns for sale. So much fun!! 🙌💕
Ok, I know we talked about color flatlays, but let’s be honest.. it’s 1:45pm and I’ve yet taken a shower so flat lays are just not in the cards ok? This is not the final layout for #oceanpathquilt by @nightquilter but doesn’t this look pretty awesome like it? I might need to do another one like this.
