For those who missed my FB/Instagram story... We had a little scare yesterday. Actually mine only lasted a few seconds until I could actually reach her and see what was happening then I was surprised how calm I was. I was on a coaching call when I heard Jesse’s very panicked and assertive cry out to me. I could tell immediately in his voice something was wrong... and let me tell you, I DO NOT jump to my kids crying much, I actually feel pretty numb and/or triggered by it majority of the time.
I ran outside to a scene out of the horror movie “Carrie”. If you haven’t seen the movie... basically it’s a scene where a girl gets a bucket of pig blood dumped over her head and she is completely covered in blood. Jareka had blood completely covering her face and in her hair and soaking 40% of her entire shirt.
Luckily, I immediately located the cut on her forehead and realized it was just because it was a head wound that she was bleeding so much. I immediately knelt down with all my kids and calmly explained why she was bleeding a lot and that our bodies have a ton of blood and we just needed to go get it closed up and she was going to be just fine. Jesse was shaking so hard and trying to breathe because he literally thought she was going to die!
Something very beautiful came out of this.
I initially felt so fucking pissed and a lot of guilt for delaying getting them helmets for their new bikes grandma got them a month or so ago. (I can’t afford it, I’ll do it soon etc...) Then I really looked at this situation and realized how valuable this lesson was for everyone. Instead of me just having to make them wear helmets grudgingly everyday.... I now know that once I buy these helmets (tomorrow) they are going to fully understand WHY they are wearing them and the importance of it.
I’ve released all guilt and just so happy this was a happy ending ❤️ #progressionjunkie #helmetsafety #closecall #happyending #procrastinationatitsfinest
