This is a hard one // holding plank pose with your feet up agains the wall requires you to engage your core even more because you really have to apply a lot of pressure or you just slide down the wall ✨

Drop backs, handstands, and a little help from #paulthewall.
Drop backs : are something I’ve been doing since i was really little with no fear. For some people dropping backwards into the wheel pose is scary to the point where they won’t even attempt it. My advice for that would be to trust yourself. If you feel fear of falling that’s because you don’t know if YOU have the capability to catch YOURSELF.
Relax.
Take a breath.
And return.
Focus on what’s in front of you first. Then switch your gaze to what’s above you, then behind you, then the floor. You don’t have to rush and you can even use the wall for some help like my friend @jillian_leigh3 did in her video a few days ago. Wheel pose is very important in my practice especially if you have a back like mine that tweaks out every once in a while. Breathing in this pose and during the drop back is so important. You don’t wanna get light headed or dizzy. Controlling your breath as your dropping is the first step, so get a nice breathing technique set in your head for a few minutes to make it easier carrying on into the pose and remember to stretch‼️‼️ the pop up is TOUGH so i wouldn’t recommend it until your confident and strong enough in your drop back. @namasterri i hope that helps !!!! Handstands : get so much better and easier with practice. Practicing every day really is crucial to finding that spot where you can distribute your weight comfortably and be able to hold a nice even pose. My handstands have gotten outrageously better over the past 7 months and I’m very proud of them. I still get nervous sometimes but i try to use the wall as much as i can until i get very comfortable in my balance. I love being on my head and my hands but it takes time and patience. If you got that, you’re one step ahead ☺️❤️

Day 9 was a day I was looking forward to as it features my most improved pose over the last few months. Pincha Mayurasana or Feathered Peacock Pose is an asana I have been working on for over 18 months. I had a breakthrough thanks to @emitull and her excellent Dharma Yoga classes and finally found the point of balance a couple of months ago that I had been searching for for so long. I can now bring my legs together 9 times out of ten and can balance pretty much without effort. Ok....so...this pose here is what one of my main goals is, and it also terrifies me. My shoulders are tight and bulky AF, and getting to a place where it feels right to put my weight on my forearms and shoulders in the right alignment is so hard for me in this pose....so I've never tried this variation, and obviously needed some sort of support ( #paulthewall ), but I FUCKING DID IT!!!! first time trying this, and look at her go!! Never give up, face your damn fears and give it a try. I just jackhammered down a wall and omg I can't wait to explore what's been behind it!!!!!

For day 3️⃣ of #HandstandsByKimber we practice with a partner. I decided to work with #paulthewall and then Bill the bolster offered his help to work on my #straddlehandstand as well. 😂 I loved all the tips and ideas from Kimber and I’ll definitely try them as soon as I’ve got the possibility.
I always thought that my alignment when I do a handstand with my back against the wall is as good as when I am facing the wall but actually comparing these pictures is really interesting, I think. 😅 It still scares me a lot though to face the wall when my feet don’t touch the wall... so it’s definitely something I will practice more.

Learning something I’ve NEVER been able to do. PIKE!! .
I’ve never really believed it was possible for me even when I could somersault for days. I had every excuse nailed in the bag. The only bit that was right was that I believed I couldn’t do it, so I couldn’t. After only a week with the magnificent, world class superhuman yogi/trainer @rhyannawatson (and some help from Paul the Wall) I’m well on my way

Learning a new skill is the best way to keep ourself young. It literally puts down new neurological pathways in our brain and can even prevent the onset of degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s (sadly my granny passed from this)
.
This is taking strength training, drills and development, mobility work, counselling (the biggest part), fitness and HIIT, compression exercises, and we’re even borrowing from twerking. Can’t wait to see what is possible next week

We are suppose to tell why we started yoga...

I started it for me of course. I wanted to better my body and myself. I wanted something to keep my depression at bay. So I did a few poses here and there, then decided to take it to Instagram where I would have accountability partners. People to help with my progress, to help me overcome my depression, to keep me in check. It was the best idea I ever had. I cannot say it enough. This community is so inspiring and encouraging, its incredible. I couldn't ask for better Instagram friends.

Lentes ondulations du soir (mais accélérées x12) pour célébrer la nuit.
J'ai aussi tenté de "tenir" sirsasana, sans mur, pour enfin en ressentir les vertus énergisantes et "enracinantes". Alors... je tiens ! Pas encore 1 minute entière. Mais j'y respire enfin librement, complètement, sans crainte (je répète : sans le mur !!). Il faut savoir que cette posture joue les diablotins avec moi : elle me vient, repart, revient depuis 3 ou 4 ans. Mais elle était restée dans son terrier, entourée de nombreuses peurs encore bien enfouies, depuis une bonne année... et là, ça y est, elle a accepté de retrouver le chemin jusqu'au sommet d'mon crâne ! "Bizarrement", la posture m'est revenue petit à petit quand j'ai accepté la fragilité de mon épaule droite. Je ne suis pas symétrique et mon côté droit est fragile depuis plusieurs accidents... cette année je lâche-prise (enfiiiin !) et je ne me suis jamais sentie aussi libérée de l'épaule droite ! Et j'ai pourtant la sensation de n'en être qu'au début du chemin... mais toute cette sagesse est déjà en moi, quelque part : elle se révèle chaque jour un peu plus. Mon corps m'épate !

I'm feeling so proud of my body, so proud of myself for finally being able to overcome my fear of falling in #sirsasana (without #paulthewall and when holding the pose for more than 5 or 6 breath -which is all new to me!). I just begin to breathe fully and naturally in the pose. Wow! Such a great pleasure!

It's raining heavily here tonight ⛈⛈ Day 3 of #handstandsbykimber is partner work ... well my husband is sleeping already, so I use #paulthewall and #trx as my #partneryoga 😄😄 with amazing @kimberscanes and @dontmesswithganesh 💗

I also try #straddlehandstand which I think is harder to find #balance . And #kickup #handstand at the end. As you can see... it is hard enough for me to hold a handstand. Can't imagine handstand with interference 😱😱😱😵😵 you are so amazing @kimberscanes 💪😍💕 One of the reason I often #practice #handstand at night is.... so there will be NO INTERFERENCE 🙈🙈🙈😂😂

For me it was finding some help for poor blood circulation. I have read that it can improve it step by step and.. Yes it is really helping me but it also become something more than only remedy for low circulation🔥🔥

I recently fell while doing this away from Paul the wall and hurt my finger. 😞so I've lost a bit of confidence in myself. But I keep getting up and trying my best. I fell a couple times today. Sharing a progress pic for day 1 of #YogiWinterWarmUp with a standing split. The picture on the left is about 6 months ago. Not a huge difference but I'm so excited to be balancing without #paulthewall!! One random fact about myself - I crochet and knit in my spare time. It's extremely relaxing and it's just one of the many ways I like to meditate. And I live in Bettendorf, Iowa which is part of the Quad Cities.
