And because I enjoy it I make the effort to factor it into my diet.

And it’s a little bit absurd to suggest that it would given that I can control the amounts that I eat.🤦🏽♀️ ————————————————————————————Carbohydrates alone do not make you gain weight. Overconsumption does. Of any kind of food.
One reason that it may be so easy to give carbs a bad rep is that we often think of them in regards to cake, cookies, and pastas - Those foods that are often lower in in fibre, higher in simple carbohydrates, and heavily processed. These are high palatable foods - which is why you feel like your stomach is a bottomless pit when you eat them. (They don’t fill you up so you can eat a large amount, making it very easy to over-consume). As we label this category of food as ‘junk’ it is also easy to make them the scapegoat for excessive weight gain. ————————————————————————————
If you eat a lot of the above foods, then yes, perhaps the overconsumption of carbohydrates is making you gain weight. But that is not due to their macronutrient profile, but their high calorie nature. If you want to eat the above foods you have to factor it in to your caloric needs. ————————————————————————————
Do you know what else can make you gain weight? Nuts 🥜 most are higher in fats, Yet again can easily be over consumed due to being quite high calorie foods.
So let me stress! It is not just carbohydrates! ————————————————————————————
Carbohydrates are actually a beneficial and staple part of our diet. Mainly as our primary source of readily available energy. So they are particularly beneficial around training🏃🏽♂️ ————————————————————————————Whatever carbohydrate is yours of choice, know that you can enjoy it (within reason)without the fear of gaining weight.
