Here’s another #tiptuesday for you!
Who needs some accountability in there life? 🙋🏻♀️ 🙋🏼♂️ I think we all do in order to really get the sh*t done that we set out to do. We all know it - if we tell ourselves, “I’m going to do X”, or “I need to get back to doing Y”, we don’t always follow through. It stays like a dark hidden secret between you and yourself. No one ever knows that you wanted to accomplish it... but didn’t.
So, what’s stopping you?? 🤔
Time to grab an accountability partner and get done what you know you want to!! And if you needed some more reasons why it’s a good idea to be accountable to someone, then read on my friend!!
✳️ We perform better under observation: when you know someone is there watching (and not in a creepy, lurking way), you will be more effective at your goal. Want scientific proof? Google the Hawthorne effect.
✳️ Get honest feedback from someone impartial: have someone who is able to see your goals and actions through a different lens, as our own lens is tinted by personal experiences and knowledge. Sometime an outsider’s perspective is what we need to confirm our path or help us to course-correct.
✳️ (Here’s a biggie) Helps or forces you to follow through with taking ACTION: we may start out well with making a change, but quickly tire and lose interest… especially when life mysteriously gets in the way. Knowing you have to answer to someone helps to keep you on the straight and narrow path - even when life tries to sidetrack you.
✳️ Learn from the successes (and failures) of others: by having a coach, mentor or peer that you trust to keep you accountable, you can get opinions and real life experiences from them which might help you achieve greater success or to avoid pitfalls that they may have experienced or coached before.
