Lower body accessory day—during my max strength cycle of training on #SB911 . These are two movements that can help develop explosive hips and definitely develop a thick and powerful posterior chains (big ass). First is the #bulgariansplitsquat which is a nice little unilateral movement that has put on some quality size on my back end but also helps me with balance that translates into my sport (#BJJ). Second is the #goodmorning which like the #bulgariansplitsquats (or the “#rearfootelevatedsplitsquat )will build the glutes and hamstrings up, also involves more of the trunk (once you get to add a bit of weight to the bar, you must brace HARD in the hole to reverse the weight back up). You can go heavy or light on these movements, but when you choose to go heavy, definitely work your way up to your work sets. You don’t want to have a shitload of weight on your back and be on one shaky leg that’s either too far or to close to the bench. These can be main movements in your program, but I do believe you get more bang for your buck by using the #backsquat or #deadlift as your main and these movements will build those others up (hence the name accessory). If you’re a combat athlete, specifically a grapple think about your double legs, how you push off one leg during certain takedowns and then also think about how many of us have low back “problems”, nip these in the ass before they come up.
