Day 1- The most intense off roading of my life for hours up into the mountains to Monte Verde combined with an earth shattering sunset. Over mudslides, boulders, and coming way too close to the edge of cliffs dropping thousands of feet in the blackest darkness I’ve ever experienced. It’s a miracle we even found our Airbnb. Chris, our host met up with us on his dirt bike and led us the rest of the way after calmly welcoming us to the jungle. And we were in the jungle. The sounds of creatures I’ve never heard before, glowing eyes staring from the dark lush trees. We arrived at the Salazar’s home and our eyes stared in wonder and disbelief at the beauty. Located on an ecological sanctuary and coffee farm filled with colorful psychedelic paintings, plants and herbs. Chris told us his mother would wip us up some witchcraft (ginger tea). I surprised myself with how long this witch and I conversed in Spanish, remembering my grandmother’s native language, flowing back into my mind. Our bedroom equally as beautiful as the day. Our bed handmade by Chris himself. Now I lay in bed writing, listening to the rainforest excited for the adventure tomorrow will bring. Traveling bringing vibrancy and love into my heart, like it always has. I wish I could do this forever.
