full disclosure: i haven’t worked out consistently in the last almost two years. with my back injury and other health issues, any time i did work out for an extended period (read: consistently for about a week or more) would just result in a crash that would take weeks or months to recover from. fast forward to the other day, suggesting fitness apps to a friend, i remembered @niketraining and how it got me started on my fitness journey soooo many years ago. so i re-downloaded as i was in need of some structure and a doable schedule, plus it’s free. i’m beginning to feel somewhat normal again in doing these workouts, even at a beginners level. because let’s face it—it’s not wise to start out at a level where you used to be when you haven’t been there for a while now. it’s a harsh reality check, but necessary and i think that’s where sometimes people can get discouraged—starting out too strong too fast and hurting yourself. so far i’ve been following my plan but i fully intend to listen to my body—for example this workout was scheduled for yesterday but after a bad night’s sleep i switched it for today because i knew it would do more harm than good. i have to remind myself that it’s ok to modify, especially where my back is concerned—it’s a lot better but i want to be mindful of that and it’s easy for me to get swept up in the intensity of a workout. for example, modified burpees aren’t quite the thing for me at the moment, as i’m now feeling a bit of a twinge. and i’m a girl who LOVES burpees. yes, i do. and it kills me that i don’t get to do them right now. but i will again. trust. what a long winded caption, amiright? i’m sharing for those who maybe feel ashamed of having to start over, who might be hard on themselves for not being at the level they used to be, whatever the reason may be. it’s ok to start over. to begin again.
it’s not ok to quit. #believeinyourself #tiuteam #tiugirl #tiufam #tiubabes #dancebodybabes #dancebody #dancebodyathome #fitfam #fitlife #niketrainingclub #doitlikeadancer #keepmoving #danceitout #sweatitout #workitout #toneitup #slayallday #mindfulness #health #wellness #fitness
