Sam says she was overweight her whole life. She was 75 kg (165 lb) at high school and at just 21, she was 95 kg (209 lb). She said since she was only 160 cm tall, she was classed as morbidly obese.
Not only was she struggling with her weight, but also her health. She was tired, emotional all the time, she had polymyalgia rhumatica in her legs, she was taking anti-depressants, Nexium, and also the pill to regulate her cycle.
She eventually signed up to a Pathways program in Tasmania. They gave her dietary advice and signed her up to the gym. She didn't go to the gym often because she was uncomfortable about her weight.
The dietary advice she received was unusual. JERG—just eat real food. She was told to eat meat and veg for dinner, leftovers or bacon and eggs for breakfast, yoghurt and nuts for lunches. She also did some research and found other people doing LCHF (low carb, high fat). In 6 months she had lost 25 kg (55 lb). She had come off all of her medication, and the excruciating pain in her legs had gone. She was also sleeping better.
When she started her relationship with her boyfriend, she let herself start eating carbs again. It didn't take long for her to feel average again, her reflux came back, her cycle became painful and irregular again, the pain in her legs came back, and she gained back around 10 kg.
She then went back to LCHF. She is a total of 30 kg (66 lb) down and still losing. And, here life has completely changed!
I met Sam in person last weekend at our event in Launceston. She is glowing with good health!
If anyone coming to Brisbane or Sydney has a story they would like to share, please come and see me afterwards, and we can take our photo together! :) More info about the event here: christinecronau.com/events
