Over the weekend, I had the honor of facilitating the NABA Day of Service during the National Convention in partnership with Naba Orlando.
Can you say “view altering”? 50 teens from local area foster care programs, some of whom didn’t want to be there, engaged with me and a group of volunteers for 3 hours to talk about life skills, job skills, personal financial literacy and their digital footprint. These kids will go out into the world soon with a minimal amount of support and direction and several suitcases worth of “past” that most of us can’t fathom.
Today, I sit grateful for being blessed at such a young age and being able to turn around and bless others.
I’m grateful for the art of storytelling and the art of making someone forget, even if for a moment, about all the not so great stuff.
In this pic I’m smiling but I was terrified because this was not going to be my regular “speaking audience”. But when the mic was “hot” so was I.
