I said I was going to share my experience with customer service on my story, ironically I’m delayed in sharing because of technical difficulties that required me calling customer service. HA! Literally my life guys! 😂
I was at home working from my phone and even though my phone said I was connected to the wifi, all of the sudden I was bombarded with Telstra txt messages that I was being charged for data 😳☠️ ($50 worth)
I used to break in to a sweat at the thought of getting put on hold and having to talk to someone with a bad phone connection trying to explain the problem and Always being on the defense. 😫
Literally hundreds of phone calls later with health insurance issues, thousands of immigration interactions, US bank hack while in Australia, the list goes on. 📠
I’ve finally learned these three things:
1. Assume the BEST🤙🏽
It’s tempting to enter a situation fuelled by your frustration and ready to attack.
OR to assume the worst outcome.
Assume it’s an error and start with giving them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes I even start with “While this is the problem, maybe I’ve made a mistake here with ___________”
2. Picture the Person🤔
Actually picture this person at their job, picture what they look like and as you’re talking to them use their name. How you treat them affects their day just as much as how they treat you affects yours.
3. Listen & Ask👍🏽
Listen to what they have to say and then ask for the best outcome with kind Confidence.
After chatting with Telstra, I’ve been refunded for my data due to the technical error And earlier this week was refunded the full subscription of an app I never used because of these techniques! 🙌🏽
Additionally I Always Thank them for their help/time even if I’ve had the worst experience.
It goes a Looonnnggg wayyy and has led to me Legitimately getting thank you’s and compliments from them Every time.
Let me know if you’ve had similar experiences or dread these phone calls like I used to ⬇️
And Good luck with your next opportunity to make them smile rather then end the call in tears. 😝🙏🏽🌞
