It’s funny how you can hear about something over and over, and still not pay any real attention to it. I’ve heard people complain about charting for ages, but never really understood why. NOW, I understand!! What a lot of patients don’t know is that the work day extends far beyond the period in which patients are actually seen. Us student (and certified) docs still spend plenty of time behind a screen making sure that no hand written note goes un-typed in the electronic system. I don’t love how time consuming it is, but I REALLY appreciate that I can preview a patient before they come in and see what meds they’re on, what diseases they may already have, how old they are, at the click of a button!
Can you believe I used to think the doc only knew about me what I told them during the past 5 minute visit? NOPE! They practically have my medical life story reviewed before they even see my face. Thank you, technology 🙏🏼 (oh, and @starbucks I guess I should thank you too)
