It can be spread through blood transfusion, from an infected mother to her child, organ transplants or by sharing needles with an infected person.

WHY MOSQUITOES PREFER SOME HUMANS OVER OTHERS:
It's amazing that scents are one of the major indicators used by mosquitoes to detect their preys. Mosquitoes have a very acute receptors in their antennae and head that can identify Scents, even from a far distance. So with the human big size, how good you smell can play a big role in determining the amount of mosquitoes attracted to you.
Some Reasons for attraction include:
1. Bad odours due to skin bacteria and sweat.
2. Secretion of higher amount of saccharides and antigens through their skin.
3. People with Type-O blood, can attract mosquitoes compare to those with Type-A blood based on available evidence.
4. Higher lactic build up on their skin can attract higher mosquito bites.
5. Carbo dioxide excreted in excess in combination with other toxic lung excretes can also be a determining factor. Pregnant women excretes higher c02, and thus attract more.
6. Body heat, Colour and moisture.. Like wise do attract
mosquitoes.
Preventing mosquito bites due to bad odour starts with Good and personal hygiene. Wearing neat cloths and proper hand washing are also necessary to Prevent bites. The use of Insect repellants can help mask these unique Body odours.

Did you know Malaria is spread by female anopheles mosquitoes, which transmits the parasite from an infected person and injects it into the blood of another by biting?

Currently, Africa has the goal to eliminate malaria by 2030 by reducing the population of mosquitoes.
Prevention is a vital part of malaria control and it involves the use of Long Lasting Insecticide treated Net (LLIN) and the use of indoor residual spraying. Let's join hands in spreading the awareness! #EndMalariaAfrica
