The first female MTA elevator escalator mechanic has died giving birth to her twin daughters.
The Transit Workers Union of New York says, "43-year-old Julia Roman was a pioneering female Elevator Escalator mechanic who came up through the ranks after being trained in a program to bring women into non-traditional jobs.”
Julia passed away while delivering twins, Isabella and Grace, last Thursday, November 16, 2017. She suffered an amniotic-fluid embolism.
Julia leaves behind her husband, two adult children, a 5-year-old daughter, and her twin baby girls.
Julia’s selflessness continued after her death. Her family said her final gift was through organ donation.
Our thoughts are with her twin girls, 3 other children, husband and loved ones. Rest well Julia...
