The talk focused on two major trends in digital journalism that are taking place in many places around the world. The slides highlight examples of media from France, Holland, Mexico, the U.S., Germany, Peru, England, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil, among others.

1. Publishers are pivoting toward users and away from advertisers and investors as their main source of financial support. The business model that depended on advertising to support journalism is moribund and nearly dead. The automated buying and selling of advertising is controlled by the duopoly of Google and Facebook, which have more and better data about news publishers’ users than the publishers’ themselves. Publishers have no way to compete with that.... READ MORE.. www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

On this account, I am awfully sorry to report that Nigeria, our country is indeed right now in a dangerous place and the injury is self-inflicted. How many more open graves will Nigerians dig? How many more mass burials are we going to conduct before we realize that the rain has perforated our roofs and we can no longer sleep in peace? How many more condolencemessages will heal our wounds, even now that we have been officially informed by the Presidency to tolerate more killings because a ‘quota’ left behind by the former President Jonathan has not been met? That is absolutely stupid but we are in today’s Nigeria where human lives have been officially determined to be a pawn in the political game, death has become a campaign issue, our politicians are now stepping on people’s blood to make political points, they don’t care, they don’t give a damn. Good? No. Sad? Yes. Very sad. Pitiable. Regrettable. Absolutely offensive....READ MORE ...www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

"the people of Ekiti State will go to the poll to elect their next governor. The election will not just be a test of credibility for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) whose chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, is being accused of bias by the opposition, it will also reveal the level of preparedness of the commission for the 2019 general election. It is therefore in the interest of all the critical stakeholders to ensure that the exercise is free, fair and credible.

If the process leading to the emergence of the candidates of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) which controls the centre and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ruling the state were any guide, nothing should be left to chance in the election. First, the APC governorship primary presided over by Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State was suddenly called off following an outbreak of violence despite a deployment of numerous security forces to the venue of the election in Ado Ekiti. It took a repeat exercise..... READ MORE... www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

#NGIGE, AND #FAYOSE :
How Subliminal Inclinations and Top of the Mind Awareness enhances #Brand Equity.

On Tuesday July 10, the Nigerian Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige while addressing the audience at the governorship campaign rally  of the All Progressive Party (APC), metaphorically likened Ekiti state to a husband that has married two wives, and as such is in a position to compare the overall performance and desirability of both wives. Ngige was ostensibly comparing the performance of Dr. Feyemi, (the former governor and current governorship candidate of APC) to the performance of Fayose (the outgoing governor of the People’s Democratic Party – PDP). The audience which included President Muhammadu Buhari was stunned, when Ngige beckoned on Ekiti people to (on the basis of their observance of the performance of both “wives”) bring back Fayose on Saturday.

In his word, Ngige eulogised: “If you marry two wives you will know the one that is good, Fayose is the good one, he cooks, gives his husband food and who is not troublesome, so you must bring.....READ MORE... www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

In essence, religion and societal laws are not mutually exclusive. They should, indeed, be complementary of one another, which is the clear lesson that Jesus Christ gave when he encouraged his disciples to go on and give Caesar’s due to him. Those who are faithful to a particular religion have a set of codes by which they are expected to live. In most cases as it relates to the three main faith groups in Nigeria, religion, first and fore most, compels adherents to obey the laws of their country, love other human beings as themselves, consider the importance of integrity, value the lives of other human beings, avoid covetousness and generally embrace everything that is good. Religion, therefore, prepares every man to be at their best and give their utmost best to........ READ MORE.. www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

We are uneasy with the recent indication by the Federal Government that some of the recovered stolen public funds linked to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, will be shared among “poor Nigerians”. The National Coordinator of the Open Government Partnership, OGP, Nigeria, and Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Justice Reforms, Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, a fortnight ago, told newsmen that the $322 million (N115, 920 million) “Abacha loot” received from Switzerland would be “paid directly into the accounts of the poorest Nigerians” in line with a memorandum of understanding signed with the Swiss government. We would like to believe that this disclosure was meant to fly a kite and test the waters of public opinion as to whether Nigerians are supportive of the so-called.... www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

#PhotojournalismMonday from @guardiannigeria - A man searches through detritus after an accident involving an oil tanker along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
At least 10 people were killed on Thursday when a tanker burst into flames at the Otedola Bridge area of Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.
Dozens of cars were also destroyed in the blaze.
A police source said the tanker fell on the bridge, with the ensuing fiery spill engulfing cars and people on its path.

But then, I have this surreal feeling that the president and his advisers are not getting some things right in their calculations. If ethnic colouration is being read to the prickly security issue that has been exacerbated by the Fulani herdsmen, what about the growing hunger in the land? The number of people that I see these days in the street of Abuja, begging for alms to be able to feed themselves and their children at home has increased exponentially. The practice is not anymore restricted to the Almajiris alone who have been doing that even in the midst of plenty.  And, this is quite instructive in assessing the performance of the economy in pragmatic terms.

The purchasing power of Nigerians has been eroded by inflation which, for instance, rose to 11.61 per cent year on...... www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO

Against the background that a six- year-old child who went for a funfair with his parents was electrocuted at the Murtala Amusement Park in Minna on Sallah day, we must commend Mupwaya for bringing to limelight an issue hardly ever discussed even when it has claimed the lives of hundreds of Nigerians.

From employees of power distribution companies to ordinary consumers and innocent passers-by, the rate at which many Nigerians are being electrocuted has become very alarming. Raising alarm earlier in the year, the Network for Electricity Consumers Advocacy of Nigeria (NECAN) said....READ MORE....www.mhng.com.ng, LINK IN BIO
