Breastfeeding is natural sure! But it certainly isn't easy. I struggled with supply issues with Savannah from the beginning and just was never able to make it work with her and that was ok because fed is best! One goal I set for myself with Nolan though was to pull out all the stops I could in my power and make it a full year of exclusive breastfeeding. We fought through breastmilk jaundice (not the same as breastfeeding jaundice), severe tongue, lip and buccal ties, excruciating pain I cried at every feeding, over production turned low production, several dirty looks from strangers and a few bites thrown in the mix but, we made it! A full year. My one piece of advice for those wanting to make it work but struggling is something I repeated to myself several times: never quit on a bad day. Because there will be a lot of them and the haze of the trials can cause rash decision making. Take a breather, re gather yourself and come back at it with a more level mind. Seek out a lactation consultant for help if need be (I had 2!). At the end of the day though, just make sure that baby is fed and don't beat yourself up! We're all just doing our best and mommin ain't easy! So feed on mommas!
