27.8 - 26.9.18 | As my month-long disaster relief excursion in Lombok draws to an end, I often reminisce about the shock I felt when I first witnessed the magnitude of devastation caused by the Richter 7.0 earthquake on the 5th of August this year. The road leading to the north (where we were stationed) were lined by endless rubble and destroyed buildings. People were milling around, as though they had lost their will and purpose. My heart went out to them, and it steeled my resolve to reignite their zest for life in any way I could, whether big or small. A month later, I dare say I might have succeeded, with the determination of and synergy between all the volunteers here in carrying out the various programs.
