1. the teacher 2. the lesson 3. the growth

you’ve heard a million times that “everything happens for a reason” .. but imo that’s a cop out statement. along the lines of “what happens happens.” we use it to “accept” or understand or move on from something happening in our life, but more often than not, we don’t actually process or learn from the thing in question. so instead ... try this approach:
1. accept the teacher.
maybe it’s a person coming into or going out or your life. maybe it’s being in a foreign country. maybe it’s a loss. maybe it’s an event. everything and everyone carries the opportunity to teach something.
2. accept the lesson.
it might take some digging or some inner work to find. it might be something you don’t want to know. it might be an inconvenience to your personal truth, or what you previously held to be true. that’s ok. meditate on it. reflect on it.
3. accept the growth.
growing is often uncomfortable. in fact, i’d guess that the most meaningful growth is crazy uncomfortable. don’t rush through the change. (*coughcough* don’t listen to the self-improvement podcast on 2x speed just to get to the next one faster either.) let it soak in, LET it leave a stain on your being. accept the growth.
i am super thankful for my yoga teacher suzanne at @corepoweryoga kahala for being the catalyst for this reflection 💭 today. six hours later and im still thinking on it. thank you mamacita. 🙏 mahalo.
