Keeping excess pressure off this knee has forced me to get creative in correcting imbalances and building a better base to improve my running (eventually). Yesterday’s leg and glute day was no exception and featured some awkward 🐢 moves and machines. Alas, creative thinking brings gains because I basically crawled out of the gym for afterward. Here’s what got the weird looks yesterday:
1) Cable pull throughs—Yeahhh I avoid all eye contact when doing this one. While the standard deadlift is out of the question ATM, I’m able to pull pretty heavy with no pain doing these. I find it helpful to set my elbows just over my hip bone to keep my shoulders out of the equation.
2) Hip flexion/extension—This one is awkward to properly set up and get comfortable with. Once set up though it can mimic a running stride which has been difficult to mimic otherwise.
Side note: I’ll be doing another PT screening on the knee to assess how to proceed at the end of the month. Updates soon...
